Panda (Classic) Charmanda(er) - mania continued......

Introduction

So having been amused at everyone guessing who have bought Char' I own up, t'was me :nerner:

Obviously having just picked up today I don't really have much to say, but I am a happy bunny. I have many plottings going on in my head as to what to do with it - you'll just have to wait and see what happens in the long term, in the short term gonna pretty much leave it and enjoy panda-life for a bit.

Anyway, everyone like pics over waffling... ;)

Got a lift from Simon in exchange for a full tank of fuel (should have half left still i think lol).

Few hours and a pitstop to eat a Subway for brekkie and then.... A wild Charmander appeared :D

Was not the best weather on the drive back but Char' ran faultlessly

Stopped about halfway home for quick pitstop and to get a pic to share on facebook for all the people guessing what I had bought before it got too dark.

And finally made it home - was mildly amusing getting out the panda to move my alfa forward a touch and practically stamping a hole through the floor cause its such a light pedal compared to the panda.... I hate to think what it would be like going from panda to suzuki as that is way way way lighter pedals than even the alfa.

All 3 fit on the drive, albeit quite close together.. But the garage is empty and Char' will live in there when not being driven - just couldn't be bothered to move all the cars around after being in the car all day.

how is it me complicating things - people have stuff for sale, i buy it and then it magically doesn't exist. I totally don't understand how this is happening!! You really couldn't even write it. I mean this is not like I am trying to buy it from the same person or anything, I literally have ordered from 7 different sellers all with good feedback ratings on ebay or amazon.

Yep, that's the issue with modern model of doing business online.
Some shops just don't care as much as you expect them to do.

Sorry, didn't wanted to insult you, it is absolutely not your fault.

no offence taken fella... Just properly amazed this is happening. I am complicating matter a little by wanting the same brand as the other side which I already bought - but that guy only had one in stock, seemed like no problem at the time lol. I know I don't really need the same brand on both sides but I know it will annoy me if they aren't the same lol.
I used to have a little local shop when i was in York, I always used to get parts from him whenever possible even if I had to pay a bit extra - he sadly had to close shop not long before I left York, sad all these places are being shut down by everyone using online and the likes of EuroCarParts... I am more than guilty of this myself but for me its pretty much that or drive 20 or so miles to a shop and then back again and its just so much more convenient and cheaper to buy stuff online for me.

this is just becoming comical now, ordered track rod again and this time i got a phone call to say they can't supply and that my paypal has been refunded... I think thats 7 times now.

they MUST be all despatched from 1 factors warehouse..,

does seem DAFT though..,are they a weird -6 months only -fit--or sommat..??

did you call the old FIAT place I 'd suggested a couple of weeks ago..??

Charlie

I've not no, I have saved it for a day when I need someting i can't find.... who'd have ever thought it would be hard to get a track rod end though lol. Like i say, I'm sure i could buy any number of them for sale and it would be fine, but i got one febi bilstein one and i want a matching pair cause I am silly and they gotta match.. At this rate though i will be returning the one i got and buying a pair of different ones - will see how it goes, have already ordered another this aft right after the phone call so perhaps 8th times the charm...? haha

On another note, amazon have apparently dispatched a shock and imply the other one will be dispatched next week. New top mounts ordered and new shock dust covers and bump stops (prob don't need bump stops but they came with the dust covers).

Also ordered a new rubber boot that the selector rods go through under the car as its all split.

Apart from that I an still waiting on wheel bearings to turn up, they were meant to turn up today but didn't. Oh and I couldn't find as many nylock nuts as i thought I had, well I have quite a few but not the right size so load of them in post too.

Bit of luck everything will turn up by next week and Char will be back on road next weekend. I will do what i can do without the parts I'm waiting for over the weekend.

Just a quick ' how to' if you are strugling with finding specific brands of parts.

I do think the same, brand makes a difference.

1. go to google translate.
2. Select Englsh to German.
3. Type - Track rod end, copy the translation.
4. Open ebay.de and paste the translation adding Panda 141.
5. Look for sellers offering Versand: EU or Weltweit.
6. Pay.
7. Most of UK ebay seller can't beat German shops, normally 48h.

Have a fun, Ebay.de is full of bargins.

yeah i do that often ;) same for italian ebay, although i wouldn't call the italians efficient at sending things generally. Its so annoying when you find something you really want and they won't post to the uk though isn't it lol..

thing is its not like there appears to be a lack of these advertised.. a couple of the places i ordered one even had the little 'more than 10 available' that ebay has on items you can buy multiple ones of. Just bizarre - the last place is yet to say they don't have it but nor have they marked as dispatched yet either.. I will get one though don't worry lol

Wow... actually got a dispatch notification for the track rod end. Is it true or are they just lulling me into false sense of security or something? Lol

Today's bounty is the rubber boot for the selector from Vern. Thank you muchly sir.

This will keep the gear linkage nicely sealed up.

This actual one is from Uno, but this design is better as the boot part round the bottom rod allow you to fit cable-tie on the far end of the corrugated section providing better sealing as the boot will extend.

Ah fair enough, not enough of mine left to tell thats its different lol. But yes, I figured if changing it all it would make sense to get a nice new seal on there.
