Technical changing the battery

My daughter's 1.2 07 plate makes a screech sometimes when trying to start it. I see from your faults section that we need a new battery, many thanks for that. My question is......... when I change it, will we need radio codes etc or will everything be OK?

ive just changed battery on stilo n all was ok. but ive known it to need codes straight after on other cars.

Hi, Are you sure the screech is not the auxilary drive belt slipping? Have a read through this,

I'm sure it's the battery, as it screeches as soon as the key is turned (and sounds like the starter crashing against the ring gear).

I've also learnt (from this site) about the need for a modified drain to protect the alternator and drive belt

But I still don't know if the radio will work after I've fitted the new battery, any answers anyone???

The worst that can happen with the radio is that you have to re enter the code, so just make sure you have the code handy

Provided the radio is the one supplied with the car the head unit is coded to the body computer so it knows its in the correct car and will not need a code to activate it...
