My fingers are crossed someone else has experienced this same issue and they can help me diagnose and fix my van.

The dash has the "open door" symbol illuminated whenever the ignition is turned on, which is clearly a fundamental aspect of this fault.

I have replaced the electrical components enabling the power to transfer from the van body to the LHS sliding door, which are pictured in this post.

All locks actuate when i use the "open" button on my remote; but i can not lock the van because it thinks a door is open, when they are all shut tightly.

How do i identify which door the van thinks is not closed?

In my experience it is always the sliding door causing this problem. It seems to me the little black push button switch is not pressed in deep enough unless you really slam the door shut.

Thanks CDK but i have renewed these very components and double checked their opperation and sadly no joy.

If your sliding door is not correctly "hung" (which often happens if a heavy load slides and knocks or full load pressing against door, punches the door out)
The contacts won't contact,
I've had a van full of parcels, and when I go round a right turn, gravity pushes the door, just enough to break the contact!
Design error.

Remedy, adjust the door in a few mil, also I've found, fitting foam tape behind the body contact, raises it up or out a bit (giving a cushioning/pushing effect creating a better contact.

You can see from your pictures the bad connection has been happening from the marks on the square contacts, yes this will happen from movement, but it does look worse than normal,

Try the door adjusting and tape

Its most likely the sliding door. To check this, close all doors and with the sliding door open press the rectangular plastic pip in the centre of the contact assembly shown in your first photo, the 'door open' light should go out, and the central locking operate correctly on all the other doors with the remote. If this is not the case then the problem is in the electrical system or wiring from the contact assembly you just activated to the body computer.
OK, assume the light did go out, the problem is that the small plastic 'mushroom' on the door part, your second picture, is not projecting far enough. This is on a "one time" ratchet adjustment, which operates the very first time the door is closed. To reset this, use a suitable drill bit from the rear to disable the ratchet and push the part out or just pull with small pliers.
All the above assumes that door is correctly adjusted in the first place.

I agree with Adlarplant, I am my 3rd Ducato X250 and have had to do exactly this on every one. I just cut up a tiewrap and glue the strips in behind the edge of the plate.

Thanks guys, your tips have saved the day. I now have a fully fuctioning central locking system on my van.
