Does anybody know if its possible to fix a CD in a Stilo, its the standard single disc from a Dynamic. When the ignition is switched on, sometimes it lights up but doesn't play cd or radio, other times it will come on with a high pitch squeal or it will play a cd or radio with no sound.

Fiat said to buy a stereo and fit it, I've already got one from my previous car, but it will just look crap because its so small.

Any ideas? Even how to get the stereo out would be a help.

Thanks

If you are under guarantee FIAT should replace it...

The cd player only has a 1 year warranty and my car is nearly 2, Fiat don't even want to know, even though it has been looked at before under warranty for problems.

Is that right? I was just presuming it would come under the three year warranty along with the rest of the car?

I know what you mean about a standard unit looking not so great, it'd just be a little lost:)

I have thought about doing a double din install tho (twoxstandard units) with a blaupunkt head unit and a 5 disk changer (looks like the optional stilo one but isn't!), which may look ok, would cost about £300 I reckon which compares favourably with a new visteon.

I'd try putting a little pressure on your dealer tho, ask them if they value your custom;)

The problem is the dealer is 50 miles from me, and last time I went they said they'd fixed it, but obviously hadn't, so I just can't afford to have anymore wasted trips for it still not to work! Why do they always treat you like your stupid? Prob because I'm female!
I think if it packs in completely I'll just have to fit my old stereo, but that will cost me £50 to fit and then I have to buy the fascia, beginning to wish I'd never bought a Stilo, nothing but never ending problems!

There is a website listed somewhere on this forum, which sells the 5 disc changer and its far cheaper than the Fiat catalogue, maybe its under ICE or a Stilo section.

Its not cos your female... It's cos your young! Its the same for me[}:)]

My local fiat dealer wouldn't take me seriously, so I bought mine from Jamjar;)

Try putting your complaints in writing, ending up by saying as a result you won't be giving them your custom anymore, and address it to the MD.

Whatever you do decide to do though, don't pay £50[:0] for a stereo you already have to be fitted, do it yourself, its not difficult, you just get the adapter for standard stereo plug(ISO), though I'm not sure whether or not the Stilo needs one as I haven't looked, plug it in, clip your facia adapter in place, and slot in your new stereo!

Just make sure you get a bloke to supervise:D

Only kiddin!

So what other probs u had with your car?

Phone Fiat UK, they will probably be able to clear up everything, if the warranty doesn't extent to the stereo they'll give you an address/phone number of the approved supplier of refurbished Stilo CD-Players. Then get your local Auto-Sparkie to fit it.

thanks guys, I thought £50 was a rip off, I'll have a go at fitting it myself or see if one of the nice men at my local dealer can do it for me!! (there are a few benefits to being a young useless woman!)

I have had endless problems, some include: engine fault x 2, both doors not opening or closing, I got locked in the car last week, water leak, god knows how many new passenger seat bases, broken parcel shelf x 2, car constantly pulls to the left (Fiat still can't find anything wrong with it), battery loose connection faults, wipers don't work properly (Fiat don't have any motors! They have a back log and can't give a date) and it goes on and on. I think I'll remember in the future not to buy a car just because it looks good.

I have phoned Fiat UK about problems and they just said its best to sort them with your dealer, but they did tell me if a part is on back order and you have had it ordered for more than 3 days you are entitled to a hire car if the dealer has no courtesy cars, the dealers don't tell you this because its too much hassle for them.

Thanks for your advice, I'll see how it goes.

If you have entitlement to a courtesy car and the garage claims they have none spare then its their obligation to provide a car you can use! Which means they should hire you a car! Get it right up them..... thats what i say!
