A further issue I have noticed is that to add Redex or other fuel based additives, one presumably has to use the spout thingy in the tool kit bag?

Yes but its not a problem. The capless tanks seal better in accidents so they say. Pandas used to get a dust / rain cap attached to teh filler door but the 2019 car came after they deleted it. These are needed to stop dirt and dust and rain potentially entering the tank. I took teh precaution of transferring the rubber shied thing over from my last car and wouldnt want to be without it. After 3 years I havnt found any issues with the capless system and it would be beyond the wit of most theiveing morons to work out how to open the filler without the right tool so I think you worry about nothing much. There is an anti syphon device lower in the filler neck on my car which means I cant drain out if I want to. I have tried .

Don't worry about somebody stealing fuel in this day and age they just Slash the filler hose or out a sharpened screwdriver through the tank
