Evening everyone.

First post here, I’ve had a look for any similar threads and not found anything so far, so I hope is ok to post here.

Niece has recently got herself a 2018 500x auto but has experienced a few strange things when filling up with fuel recently. Twice at different stations.

The fuel was repeatedly cutting off as if the tank was full and at certain points the fuel came out so slowly that it was as if there was some kinda fault. It almost felt like she didn’t have the nozzle at the correct angle.

I’m a few hours away so can’t get back to her experience it myself, but has anyone seen similar or heard of anything like this. She’s not an inexperienced driver so I don’t think user error as such.

Thanks in advance for any help.
Tom.

Mine did it occasionally, the simple answer was wiggle it!

From memory (We no longer have the 500x) its best to push the nozzle in a long way (I feel my inner Kenneth Williams coming out, oo, er missus!) as far as possible because you get vapour in the neck of the tank shutting the pump off other wise.

Its practise, you will get used to it, the Tipo we had before was similar.

I've also found its best not to try and squeeze an extra litre or half in after the first pump shut off when its full, they do tend to blow back, if you do that.

Good luck!

Much appreciated Richard, I’ll pass that on to her. Thanks for the quick reply.

With most modern Italians.. I found putting the filler nozzle well into the tank, then swing the trigger towards a 9o'clock position (towards tailgate..) works well

Generally advice is DO NOT OVERFILL, so when it clicks STOP

If Liquid fuel gets into the EVAP pipework it can cause Hundreds of pounds of damage, and running issues

A relatively common issue on the 2 door
