beau.. the garage that im taking it into tuesday said the same thing mate it mite be some think to do with it mite just need bleeding but if it a slave cylinder failed how much are these to be fix or replace and how long dose it take a garage to do cause iv been with out my car now for a week and it just doing my head in...............................................................

once again thank for all the help here guys....cheers....(y)

It might be the metal pipe that goes down to the clutch slave has rusted out. Its tucked behind the gearbox mounting so can rot away unseen. If so do pay the poor bloke though he should have checked it out.

whitesei...o.k if it is the metal pipe behind the gearbox that rusted away how much is it to be fix or replace i meen like parts an labour at a garage to do for me and how long dose it take to do.. because when he was showing me wot it was it was some metal pipe like you are telling me about.......

The gearbox mount would have to come off along with battery and box. Then cut back the pipe somewhere convenient and joint it or replace the whole pipe. There is a funny volume pot on the pipe. I dont know what it does but I imagine it would work fine without. At least if mine goes it probably wont be getting a new Fiat pipe.

Guessing 2 hours max (probably) and more like 4 hours if it was me doing it. :(

What do the Fiat Techs think?

Just to make you feel really great, its worth getting the brake pipes checked out.
They are plastic coated so should last well - but always best to check.

whitesei.. gonna have all the other pipes checked at the same time. also would you no how much the pipe will cost me about if a new one was replace..

but im hoping it mite just need bleeding if not it just one of things..ay...

will let you no how i get on tomorrow once the car in the garage thay have looked at it and let me no wots wots..................................(y)

well i was out side today just having a little look around the engine thats just been fitted and checking things like pipe and hoses and bit and bobs, and then i started thinking about and looking at these pipes he said was the problem and all looked to be fine so then i decided to start looking around were the clutch pedal is and thinking why is it sticking to the floor and not coming bk up so wot i did then is pull the clutch pedal up with my hand only to get this little rubber thing drop down so im like em then look under were it come from to fined the bit that gose in and out it like a little black long plastic bit thats on the end of the clutch pedal had been snaped so when im puting my foot on the clutch the thing thats ment to go in and out is snaped meening it not going to go in to gear....

thing snaped is a little black plastic bit it wot connects to the clutch
then connects to wot ever it is....

please tell me some one had this problem or nose wot im on about...

It sounds like the pedal pivot pin has dropped out. Get a small torch and have a good look up there.

It probably only needs a new pin and clip or even the old bits putting back in. But I cant help with the details. You'll just have to get in there and suss it out. :)

Just in case some muppet has been messing about up there, dont forget to check the brake pedal is secure.

whitesei..had a good look mate up ther and the pedal pivot is snaped in half so im left with half of the pivot left on the clutch and the other half left wot ever it connects to..it not droped out or disconnected...............

R.A.C is picking the car up today to take it to the garage so i will be showing him first as he mite be able to help me out with it hopfully and fix it.....:worship:

oh and when i was looking over the engine yesterday i fort i would check the break fluid and it was ****ing dry. and some think i do no is it was full when it whent in for the engine swop........I WILL NOT BE USEING THAT GARAGE AGAIN HELL NO...................................................................

well it like this, got the car back as most of you no but with the clutch not working...so was ment to go in to th garage tp get it fix tuesday morning like planed. but never got ther tuesday morning cause when i got up i called the r.a.c to come and pick my car up to take it ther then i went out side to give the car a little start up and it started first time but didnt sound right so turn it off started up again but then just cut off im like wot the **** then the r.a.c man turn up so i said iv just gone to start my car and it cut out so he had a look only to tell me my ****ing cam belt come off im like NOOOOOO WOT THE **** YOU MEEN THE CAM BELT COME OFF...the ****ing ****** who fitted it never done it right so im no jumping into the car im using went to the garage and was kicking off police come and removed me.. now my car in an other garage geting sorted.............CANT ****ING BELEAVE IT

**** nose how much this is going to cost me...

That's not good

Could be the belt was not tensioned properly of the tensioner wheel wasn't settled down square.

With luck its bent 2 valves, but whatever the head has to come off. My cam belt stripped its teeth and bent 6 exhaust valves.

Have a look at this -
https://www.fiatforum.com/punto/213760-punto-hgt-cam-belt-cylinder-head-strip.html

I have a good quality valve spring compressor and HGT locking blocks if you need them.

whitesei...i no mate defo not good..but iv been told by the garage who doing it said if it bent more than 3 or 4 vavles im better off geting an other head witch iv gone and got of off my old engine and took it to the garage were it geting done and thay said the head i have got from my other engine is fine and in good order if it needed thay will use it but will have it skimmed first along with new warter pump and every think els..

would of i ****ed my pistons.

and the garage who fixing my car are a fiat & alfo recommed
fiat and alfo are the only cars thay do.........been told by them that it
mite be around £650 to be fix is this about right......

Exhaust valves £17 each (I had 6 bent so replaced all eight !!!)
Inlets £20 each
Top end gasket and seals set £100
Head bolts £50 (dont risk the old ones)
Labour = lots as access is horrible.
Perhaps worth using a new belt - the old one might be invisibly damaged.

As your cam belt fell off it probably only bent 2 valves. Mine was losing teeth so the cam got ever closer to the pistons hence so many getting bent. The pistons should be OK.

Show them my write-up as there are some (hard won) tips a non Fiat bloke may not (yet) know. e.g. the head comes off complete with the inlet manifold and the injection gear.

I would aim to repair the low miles head - it might need only 2 valves. You will know soon enough. Otherwise, check out the cam bearing journals and use the one that's least worn.
DON'T MIX UP THE PARTS!!!

By the way you wouldn't have a spare HGT exhaust manifold would you?

whitesei..cheers for the advice and price on the valve mate im just hoping it aint going to be to much will just have to wait and see but will let you o.k....

also i do have hgt exhaust manifold that came off the 51 plate engine thats just been put in my car if your intresterd mate and throttle body..

well my car was taken into the garage wednesday and started be looked over therday to see wot was the problem is and been told today so fare i need a new water belt as it ****ed, also some of the teeth have been striped and i need a new tension or some think. so these parts will be fix on monday thay said and then will get it started as i dont think any off my valve are bent as thay was not mention......but remember the cam belt never snaped it just started to come off. and was told it will be around £300 if it all gose to plan,

so can the water belt snap, teeth strip off and tension **** up with out bending any valve. as no valve was mention to me...
