Hi all, bought another punto again today, so back on here after a few years break :p

Hoping to fix this up and use as day to day car. Looks like its leaking oil from the camshaft oil seal. Needs head gasket doing anyway but how does the camshaft sprocket come off? Its the 1.2 8v so no locking tools for the shafts. I know i attempted this a few years ago on another punto and never managed to get it off.

i got a bit of flat bar from wicks diy and made a tool, i have no camera batteries so will go draw it in paint.

edit.

1 nut n bolt to hold the long n short bit together. 2 nuts and bolts go into holes in sprocket.

if you are taking the head off anyway why cant you just windy gun the nut off or get someone to do it for you
is it really such a problem to get the cog off?
i certainly never find it a problem if im collecting bits to make up some auto art pieces:D

I'd read this wrong. (Thought he meant the crank sprocket nut!)

It's easy enough. remove the belt, find a peice of round bar that fits through the cam sprocket. Wrap one end (the one that will sit at the rocker box cover/head interface) in cloth. With the cam cover off, support the bar, while weilding the appropriate socket on the cam pulley bolt. Remember, it's a conventional thread (not LH). Will come undone easily.

Wind a single turn of selotape around the shap end of the camshaft when putting the seal on (and lubricate with engine oil) or chances are you'll shred the new seal.

Replace coil pack O ring and clean the crankcase breather (dunk in solvent/degreaser, leave for 30 minutes, wash out with water and shake dry).

as above, just use say a 16mm diameter solid pipe, wrap in cloth and put in sprocket hole and open the bolt, very easy :)

Cheers guys, I presumed they'd be really tight on.
I'll give it ago. As for making that tool from 2 pieces of metal. Haynes mentions that but thats just too much effort :p

ordered new seal and HG bits today so will be done when they get here.:slayer:
