Depends somewhat on how it's driven, but don't expect to see its full performance or economy until it's done somewhere between 5000-10000 miles.
:yeahthat:

On a 1.4 petrol I noticed a difference at 8,000 miles. Got the car secondhand at 4,000 and after an oil change and a 'bit of breaking in' it loosened up.

Mine was put on the computer today, the dealers are replacing the battery under warranty.

I thought this was pretty nifty.

Smart arse;):D
Just stating the facts though :)

I think one of the problems with S&S on this forum is that people come on here already frustrated because they don't understand why it doesn't work in certain circumstances and then for some reason don't want to accept that S&S works in a certain way and it's done with the car and driver in mind :)

You can always manually Stop/Start and I don't mean with the keys. :p

You pull up at the red lights, for whatever reason the motor does not stop.
Put the car into first gear, left foot on clutch right foot on brake. Release left foot and stall the motor. Leave the car in gear. The dash will say "depress clutch" or similar. When aforementioned lights turn green put your foot back down on the clutch and the motor will start, drive away, rinse and repeat.:)

Sorry if I missed something, I read all the early threads up to page 6 then read the last page.

What surprises me is that we bought our 500 1.2 lounge April 2010 and the stop-start problem had been cured and re-called (Or whatever it's called) according to what I read here.

We have always had an intermittent problem with stop start, considering what I read here the dealer I have dealt with has been surprisingly relaxed about the issue. We have had to have two software updates and a re-call for something to do with air-bags and they didn't correctly re-fit the air-bag cover under the steering wheel. The resulting comments suggested I was being picky and it'll be Ok.

We sort-of got used to it working when it pleases, if the headlamps are on, or in fact any other item that might drop the voltage stop start doesn't work or sometimes does.

So, the problem either has or hasn't been identified and sorted. if it has then our dealer who I already sacked for other reasons couldn't be bothered to fix it.

306 maxi explain to me why it does not work stop start with the car and driver in mind as ricard said i think it has some thing to do with voltage drop in the battery as my 12 plate car when it gets a good run stop start works a couple of times then stops again. i had 3 other fiats and got rid of them because of poor build quality then my wife wanted this car later when it goes it is the finnish of fiat no more in my household.
