They'd better fix this issue soon, or they'll be getting a lot of cars returned to them for refund.

fiat c/s got back to me.

they spoke to the garage, hartwells, who said they were suprised i had involved fiat!- seriously!....when three atempts to fix 3 problems did not work!

so- they want the garage to have another go, this time keeping car 4 3 days while i have a courtesy car, to try to replicate faults- this was thursday-

the garage were going to call me shortly- 5 days later- no call yet!

as for the clutch release theory- if i released clutch str8 away every morning i would probably fly backwards into the path of a bus.

how do you manouvre without riding the clutch a bit?

saying that, the fault seems to be sensitive
to clutch positioning/use in reverse.

losing faith now!

Funnily enough I raised this potential 'cause' waaaaay back in the thread, but it got ignored.

My theory was this-

Start car (leave in neutral),
Fully press clutch pedal then release,
Press clutch again, select gear and drive/reverse as normal,
Does the fault occur now?

The reasoning behind my idea is whether the system needs to 'see' all 3 phases of the clutch stroke (pressed, half-pressed, released) before it can operate without fault.

It's worth a try. ;)

Tried this last night. Still no change I'm afraid. Error light still comes on.

Another thought occurred to me last night. What happens if we get fed up with the car not working properly and try to sell it? Not gonna get much for a car with warning lights showing, I'll bet.

Tried this last night. Didn't seem to have an effect I'm afraid.

Woah. Something weird going on when I try and jump to the last page of this thread, or post something to it. Hence the double post!

got the message from the garage yesterday that they wanted my car in for the 3 day test starting today...to try to replicate the fault...with a courtesy car booked.

got there 9am this morning and the service woman said...'oh you need a courtesy car dont you?'...im like..'yes i do...'

service woman...'sorry we dont have one!'...'We have one from 15th october'

this is WITH fiat involved....OMG!

tried the depressing clutch before engaging reverse method...seems to reduce the instance of the fault occurring but nor eradicate it...

not quite sure what leverage i have in all of this..im not a natural complainer, but i would hope that someone, somewhere at fiat is working to resolve this!

So does it now have to wait until the 15th?

I would've kicked up a fuss about the courtesy car thing (refer to previous thread :D). I would've pointed outside and said, "you seem to have some spare cars out there. One of those will do!"

they caught me on a good morning...i wasnt in the mood to kick up, so, for a courtesy car for the length of time fiat want them to keep the car in, 15th of october it is.

Probably the smartest thing to do if you want it fixed ;)

Just back from holiday. I had hope that they would have a solution to the problem but no. Phoned customer service to ask about a new car ( in my dreams ) getting back to me.

they are getting back to you about a replacement car?.....didnt just say flat out no?

They have not said they will give me a new car but it is time they did. Thinking hard about what to do next.

well it would certainly set a precedent to replace your car....cos they havent fixed any of them on here yet!

Hi

Just joined this forum so that I could let you all know that I picked up my Start 'n' Stop Friday 25th Spetember (so just over a week ago) and I have had the same problem with the warning light coming on and the SnS being deactivated.

I haven't phoned fiat about it yet as I've decided to switch to SnS off for the next few days to give the battery a good chance of charging and then see what happens. (Though to be honest having read this forum it doesn't look like it'll make any difference.)

Also, rather annoyingly, my rear light bulb has failed after only a week!

I needed a new rear bulb within the first week but its been fine for that past 6 months!

Yes, as i thought, the warning lights are still coming on.

I thought I'd phone Fiat customer services and log it as a fault but having read everything on this post I don't think it's gonna get fixed any time soon and right now don't have the time to keep going to the garage.

What do you guys suggest? Should I still log it with customer services anyway and ask them to get in touch with me when they finally find a cure?

I really do love the car which I got as part of the scrappage deal but I could have just got a 1.2 pop for less money (I paid an extra £250 for the glass roof).

Do you think there's any scope in asking for £250 back?

I would definitely log it. The more people who complain the more likelihood they will fix it.
