Im looking at a 1999 Bravo JTD 100 in yellow.
I have owned a 2000 1.2 Bravo for the last 3 years but the price of getting it through the test this year is more than the JTD to buy.

What are the main problems to look out for?

Well the main thing is to know what your looking at. There was no 100 JTD in 1999, the 100 JTD was released later at the end of 2000 upto the end of production in 2001. Again yellow (broom yellow) JTDs where HLXs only meaning they never existed in 1999. So either check the year to make sure its correct or inspect the car throughly. Make a note of the chassis number if in doubt and I or some on here can check it out for you.

The JTD is really a solid car so theres nothing really extensive you need to look out for than the usual...

Other Problems to look out for.

- Dodgy Maf sensor (Poor Acceleration past 3000rpms) check to make sure owner hasn't unplugged it.

- EGR valve sticking (Black smoke, surges in power or poor acceleration or pinking at high revs).

- Check all electrics work inc rear wiper.

Just found out it has 200,000 miles on it!
Its the original engine!
How well do these engines last?

engines will last longer if the owner takes care of them. Oil change every 6,000miles including filter.

Plus low milage doesn't always mean it's been cared for - it's 9 years old therefor it should have had 9 services. if the service has been done on millage then the car has been ran on oil that is worn out.

There is however no way of knowing if a car is going to be good or bad - buying a 2nd hand car is always a risk!!

Is it the Yellow JTD on ebay your looking at????
