On the update front I offer this.
Panda Easy 2016 65 reg. Bought a year ago with 17K on the clock I think it was £6400 and had a decent service history. It came with new cam belt and water pump and I kept the nearly new battery off our last one. Two tyres had to be changed due to cracking that was beyoned my limits even though the tyre man said OK for a while yet. Im now going to buy two more so it has Goodyear Vector all seasons all round. Its needed the rear brakes cleaning and the adjusters fettling (cost £35) and two rear dampers. The old ones wererattling and though it felt OK they were shot. Its also had a service but nothing else to reportMOT no advisories and its in great shape underneath. We have 2 further years warranty for big items, Its done 12000 miles so far. Its had a full size spare wheel and jack fitted cost £20.
Panda Easy+ Its a 17 Reg and was March 2017 so is still £35 to tax. Cost £7400 This came with two new Falken tyres on the front and new discs and pads. Its had a squeaky clutch slave that I changed in 45 mins for £25. Its required the rear brakes cleaning and the adjusters fettling and had 1 service to add to the full Fiat history it came with. It failed its MOT at Halfords needing front arms dampers and rear dampers (all cobblers) It went to a sensible garage who said nothing required and no advosories which is a viewpoint whith which I concur although I have rear dampers ready to fit. Its done around 4500 miles with no issues.
Ruby was bought in 2019 and has done 15000 miles she is a 2014 Lounge. SHe has had a set of new Ferod coated discs and pads and a new clutch slave. SHes had the rear brakes cleaned and fettled like the other two to get the handbrake movement right. Rubes suffered evap solenoid failure and cannister (twice) once done under warranty. Due to a young driver bashing the car through a pothole we had to have a wheel straightened and two tyres replaced.
All three have had Bilt Hamber treatmet underneath. We have had odd lights come on for tyre pressure and bulbs which rewuired
MES to reset. No issues detected and no Parts changed.
Noop TA 4x4 needed brakes cleaning due to rust. He was a new reg in 2019. He went through a spell of mooing noised as the clutch was released but inreased use seems to have resolved this and hte brakes have remained perfect sicen I cleaned and lubed them. He needs new orange indicator bulbs as the signals are now yellow and he has just this week developed an intermittent occasional slight suspension knock probably first signs of a drop link. going. Tyres used in the summer will do another 3 years after this one and the michelins used in winter are still at 7mm.
Daffo now decesed our 169 was bought in 2016 he went in 2024 after around 60K. He required a new air con condenser. Poor aftermarket one ratttled and was part of the reason we sent him on his way. He had 2 sets of discs, new rear brkes a clutch slave and master cylinder, an exhaust and a brake fluid level sensor also required new rear dampers as sold by a big dealer with dangerously worn leaking ones. He was a tyre wearer and had two sets in his 60K. 1 unex[lained overheating incident was part of the reason for selling as were signs of rusing in the front end due to the rust / mud trap by the front strut. Apart from me cross threading a plug. ( repeating what someone before had clerly done that was it.
Sir Percival my 100HP covered 100K and required 2 sets of discs 2 sets of tyres, a rear silencer, front exhaust het shield two window regulators. It was the most reliable low cost car I have ever owned.
Pandatoni TA4x4. 18000 miles Required a clutch master cylinder replaced under warranty in less than 1 hour.
As a tribe we have covered around 275000 miles with no major incidents. What has been required I would say is pretty reasonable and not too costly. Overall mpg I would say (decent guess) soemwhere near 44mpg fro all of them.
Would I buy another? You bet your life, in an instant if they were available new.
Which one has been best? All of them.
Nicest to drive is Ruby 2014 Lounge its just nicer with extra rubber on the road. Ite engine is absolutely spot on at 45K. Its our limmo.
