Bulb power - 55w or push it to 100w??

Hi
We all know marea ploys are not the brightest thing ever fitted to the front of a motor.
Wondering about xenon pretend HIDs.
Has anyone fitted 100w bulbs - if so any problems as obviously the wiring and fuses are desinged to run 55watt bulbs and the increased load may make trouble.

I don't know of anyone doing it but I do remember people being warned not too due to the loads on the wiring.

I'm sure you'll end up destroying the wiring, there have been a few people done this before iirc. Just get a quality set of bulbs like Osram Silverstar or Phillips Bluevision (i think).

I use Philips Vision Plus for dipped and 100 watt halogens for main beam.
There is no detereoration in the main beam wiring/connectors, and they've been in for a few years now.

I would NOT use 100 watt bulbs for dipped beam! (Through experience with using 90/130 H4s in the Teapot.)

There may not be deterioration because the main beams are rarely used. Like you I would not use them as dipped beam.

Don't do it!

I did on my standard Bravo headlights and the extra heat melted holes in the top of the headlight casing.

Lesson learnt.

dont put 100w bulbs even on the main beams, its almost twice the current and will melt wiring, switches etc. use a relay fed from the battery if you must..
