Technical Broken fob case - is case change possible?

excellent deckchair, ive looked though that, although its a bit confusing i will give it a go when it arrives. Im thinking of having just the transducer hidden in the garage for when i work on the car. Ive had my daughter in the past dead lock the car whilst i was inside (she was playing out the front of the house and took the keys out of the door when i was fixing the vanity light). Luckily for me the mrs was indoors and heard me blasing the horn until the alarm went off lol, pretty scary though mind you, those back windows dont open up nearly enough. But something else an spare will be handy for is when the battery is removed, i dont trust them to always default to unlock.

right i thought i would update you....
the fob that arrived was the back one, even though the seller had the blue one pictured!!
the back one looks the same but there are some differences which make it useless for a transplant. The key would probo be fine if it was blank and you only needed to get it cut with a transponder swap. The transponders are excatly the same.
The actual key is slightly different, the notches which lock the key blade in place are located differently. Also the black key has a slightly smaller blade at the neck (the actual blade is identical).
I went at the new key with a hobby knive trying to get the thing to fit an work correctly, once i was able to do this (although it was still stiff) i went out and tried it. It unlocked ok as expected but when key was inserted into the ignition i had security fault come up on the car?!?!. I tried a few times and the same fault kept reappearing, the immobilaiser had kicked in. I put all the gubbins back into the original fob and it all worked ok, i dont know wether there is a shield on the black keys to prevent it talking to the pick up coil, i just couldnt get it to work.
Also the boot switch is blanked over (which i couldnt care less about as it only sets of my alarm) and the fiat badge is missing (just a black cover).
Now im looking out for a BLUE one!
Thought i would let you guys and gals know before you try the same thing

If you get some pictures then post them up as not everyone is into taking key fobs apart.

The Stilo engine immobiliser is more advanced and done on a "rolling code" which make it more secure and difficult to replicate than the old fixed codes. With a fixed code I could be standing next to you in a bar and pick up your key immobiliser code with some small and easy to obtain equipment then go out, smash out your steering lock, replicate the code and I'm off but with the "rolling code" then the immobiliser code is changed every time you use the key in the ignition which makes it almost impossible to copy and scanning the code would be useless.
