Hi. a true lover of the twin air and 500c model
this is our second
my fabulus daughter managed to smash the rear window, retracting the
roof with a heap of gear in the boot, inc tennis rackets which did the damage.
I've logged on with all the used/breakers yards online services searching for a
used canvas roof complete with glass.
any clever thoughts or suggestions would be hugely appriciated. Glyn

Can't it be replaced by a glass specialist? Without changing the complete roof?

Both autoglass and UK windscreens wont touch it
the glass is stitched into the canvas apparently.
the roof is a canvas section with the glass complete, its motor and spars
etc is what the canvas is attached too.
£4,250 if buying from Fiat, but that comes with new rigging, motor,
spars, clips, wire guides.
I could salvage are reuse an old canvas, if i could find one!

You need to email club500italia they are on eBay and also have their own website… they break 500s all day long and know their stuff… saying that I’m not sure how many 500c,s come through their door but I’d give them a call …..

I'd say unfortunately the only feasible fix is to purchase another fabric roof complete with glass. The glass is bonded to the fabric only at the bottom for weather sealing but I reckon it'd be difficult to remove the broken glass, let alone fit a new piece. The glass isn't supported by the fabric but by two sprung lever arms that fold it down onto the shelf as the roof opens and press it firmly against the weatherstrip around the top and sides of the opening when closed. This pic shows the roof halfway down with the glass coming to rest on the shelf - you can see the weatherstrip around the top of the opening;
