All,

I want to remove the clutch/brake pedals from the pedal assembly (1958 N) to replace the cracked plastic bushings and clean up the housing and paint the pedals. I removed the roll pin through the clutch pedal and then the clutch pedal, shaft, and outer plastic bushings with no problem. But for the brake pedal in the center, it appears to be retained by the two sleeves that the bushings/shaft fit into. Do I have to press those sleeves out of the housing in order to remove the brake pedal and replace the bushings? I'm a bit nervous of damaging the sleeves and/or housing. Anyone done this? Any thoughts/advice appreciated.

Ok, problem solved! With a bit of help from a couple of members here in the background, I was able to get my courage up to tap the sleeve/tube out of the housing. It was corroded in place, but once I got it moving with taps from a brass hammer / brass punch just smaller than the tube diameter, it came out pretty smoothly.

Such a great / helpful forum. Thanks.
