General Brake light issue 09 punto

Hi,

I have a 2009 grande punto, only recently i noticed my brake lights weren't working. I saw in the reflection that all 3 brake lights werent working. However after a bit of driving fowards and braking, they came on again. Since then ive noticed that they only work some of the time, its either all 3 or nothing. Im wondering what could cause this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Probably the switch on the Brake pedal..

Does your car have CruiseControl..??

Stubby stalk below indicator stalk.. is for cruise

Nope no cruise control, but i did wonder if it would be the switch. Are they hard to replace??

Should be pretty simple.. but involves awkwardly lying in the footwell

Should be a GUIDE on here somewhere

( without cruise its a simpler switch )

Shop4parts should be able to post you one this week

Old switches could move out of position..
Had that on a Mk1 punto 176

Or bulb connections corroded. They usually are if you've never replaced a bulb before. Doesn't cost anything to clean either.

Bulb connections only effect ONE LIGHT unit

A poor earth to the body is a possibilty..

But pressing the pedal seems to have an effect here

Hi, i ordered a new switch and managed to replace it this morning. So far it seems to have completely fixed the issue. The footwell vent got in the way so had to be undone first.

Was around 4 quid from eurocarparts

chances are the Cruise Enabled one is nearer £30
