A 16reg 1.2 4250m with EML on. Not local to an agent, a BMW specialist diagnosed this sensor. Apparently, stop/start stops working too but thats switched off due to short journeys. Fiat say goodwill questionable as 2nd owner, out of warranty, no loyalty record etc etc. Would be charged for diagnostic check and then consideration given to contribution, so bought new sensor £74. Fitting is a nightmare. End of pipe attached to manifold is out of sight. But the best solution is to carefully remove the switch components from both switches and exchange. Easily done with care. Existing pipe left in place. The agent will do this, as much quicker, no rerecalibrating throttle which would have to be removed to gain access. If switch parts dropped, they can only go back one way! Surprised nothing on here (that I can find) about this.

Great info
But what car is this relating too?

Please what is part number for switch?
Part no FIU 0000051913856 (£74.68 inc VAT). It “plugs” into the brake booster, the sensor connector plugs in, the pipe is clipped to the bulkhead and the other pipe end connects to the manifold secured with a clip, like a circlip, out of sight. The throttle body would have to be removed to reach it after removing the aircleaner. But the square sensor itself clips into the unit on 4 sides. With some judicious manipulating, it can be released with a small screw driver. Could not see a fault with the faulty switch. Not removing the entire unit saves considerable additional avoidable work, the switch being the only element that affects anything. Hope this helps, can send pics if needed

Not a question. Relating a solution to a ripoff repair cost, precisely the value of these forums! BMW man is a specialist/friend, not dealer, near Nuneaton. Said he appreciates how easy BMWs are to work on! Under no circumstances attempt to change the pipe! Fiat wouldn't, no point, just change the switch! it would take hours, repair is just as good. I Don't have EML diag. kit, necessary for diag and turning light off. If it is this problem, this is the cheapest easiest solution.
