Has anyone changed the ambient temperature sensor on their vehicle? My Tipo one was reading "--" so picked up a new sensor off eBay and spliced it in, it now works but is over 30c above actual temperature. Contacted seller who sent a replacement but that does the same. Wondering if anyone has experienced similar or know of a way to recalibrate this? Could it simply be the wrong sensor? Would there be any tests I could perform on it ? Thanks in hope!

Not an uncommon swap in the Ducato..
Search will find that info 🙂

The swap was the easy bit it's the whole troubleshooting I'm struggling with now it works but not properly 😵‍💫
Did you manage to solve the issue with the temperature sensor. Mine is doing the same, reading -30 outside and now it's throwing the air con out. I was looking at getting a new sensor off eBay as you have done.... Unsure if it needed reprogramming though?

Not quite, I had no reading, tried two eBay sensors but they all read 20/30c above actual temperature! I have one other to try from somewhere else but not got round to swapping yet!

Ah okay, I will give it a go and let the forum know how I get on, did you mention that this sensor effected the air con as well?? As my blowers/air con are effected

Have just given this a go with a new sensor... Unfortunately doesn't work and just has a reading of 59 degrees... Will look into seeing if it's an issue with being reprogrammed.

The sensor is basically a resistor, the car is measuring the resistance across the sensor which changes with the temperature.

You say you “spliced” it in, depending on what you mean by this, it could have effected the resistance across the sensor and so is not going to read correctly.

Yes if you have climate control the sensor will affect the cabin temperature
If you have normal on off air con then it shouldn’t make a difference

Hi, did you manage to get anywhere with this? I bought another sensor and exact same, this time I used wago connectors just to see if it worked but no, 35c+ out still!

Hi, no luck as yet. I have been told to get a multimetre and check voltage coming through.
So this is my next step, the wire runs through the door (where hinged) so I'm told this could be a point where the wires can get frayed so mat be the cause of the issue ..

Thanks for the update! Be interesting if it is that but don't fancy taking off the door card etc to chase the cables, might be worth a second hand mirror at that point!

Just had another look at this, I'm getting reading of 2.5 volts, I need to check if this is correct.
I'm running out of ideas, my next step is to get sensor from fiat themselves although I'm led to believe I need to buy a whole new wing mirror for this

I'm at the point of giving up too, it reads too high still, but does fluctuate with the temperature just 30c too high!

If it wasn't for my nagging wife I would of given up too lol.
Of course if I find a solution I will let you know

There is no programming
Your issue is likely to be the sensor is the wrong resistance values to what the ECU is set to expect

Don't think there anyway to change this
