generally the furthest away from the master cylinder
The correct method is to use one of these, then it doesn't matter which bleed nipple you open first.
Pumping the foot brake with air present high up in the system is liable to cause air pocket problems in the ABS unit with a visit to Fiat then required so that Examiner can open the ABS valves in sequence
Depends whether you've lost all your fluid or are just doing a quick bleed after replacing a caliper or something
If you're replacing the fluid entirely then use the Eazibleed for speed and lack of problems

Sorry to resurrect this old thread. I have replaced the ABS pump unit which meant disconnecting the pipework (with only a little loss of fluid).
I now want to bleed the system.
My first problem is that I can no longer get a good seal at the reservoir the Gunson cap just leaks and pops off spraying brake fluid everywhere. I have tried a range of seals and a thick and thin one together. Tyre pressure is 32. Any advice on which to use- I cant even get a definitive statement as to the cap needed 44mm or 45mm!!
Second problem is picking up your comment about the ABS I had assumed that the Gunson would force out all the air from the ABS. Is this not the case?

You need much lower air pressure so you need to allow air to escape from the tyre first if you're going to use that. 15psi is plenty

After I posted the message I looked for and found the Gunson instructions. Which said use 20psi max and that as low as 10psi would usually work satisfactorily. That may explain why I and others had a problem with a popping lid. Having just pumped all the tyres up to 32psi - it would have been OK if I had left them low. I still don't think the caps should be made so that they can be blown past the threads. Part of the problem is that Fiat use 44mm 44.5mm and 45mm reservoir caps and no where does it say which is on the Multipla and I dont have a pair of calipers.
Next time I at the breakers yard I will find a spare Multipla reservoir cap (or the cap from the power steering reservoir which fits well) drll it centrally with a 10mm bit and use that.

I have done the job now - brakes are rock solid. I used 15psi and the FiatecuScan software to sequentially open the ABS solenoid valves to bleed each wheel

No not yet. The FiatecuScan software is well documented. Just run the prog, click on the ABS option, click on the Actuators tab. Select the RR, LR, RF and LF tabs in turn to fill the circuits for bleeding Right Rear, Left Rear, Right Front and Left Front (furthest from reservoir first)
And wish option do you click, on LOAD SV or DRAIN? Thank you

Got changed all my hoses, now gotta fill again with dot 5.1.
In order not to mix 5.1 and 4, i'd like to bleed abs system too.
I got FiatECUScan and good cables to do it, easybleed too, juste would like to know exactly what to do...
Fill the tank, start to action pedal, drain valve and/or (?) fill valve, and continue with pedal ?
Or is the procedure different ?...

Could work Trumpy, but bear in mind that if you have ABS I believe you need to plug the car in to software that opens the valving in the ABS unit to ensure fluid is properly loaded with no air locks.
As a key safety issue, it's one reason why this is a job I would leave to a dealer...

No need just use the ABS module in the fiatecuscan software which allows you to do one wheel at a time. Why pay a dealer when they will only do the same

I do this every two years "mechanically". Completely fill the reservoir and start with the wheel furthest away from the reservoir. The missus pumps the brakepedal when I ask her to and i open the bledvalve wth hose attached and the end in an empty container.
Use new fluid and bleed till you are certain that new fluid comes out of the hose.
Fill up the reservoir regularly to avoid sucking air into the system.
Repeat for every wheel and you have fresh fluid through the whole system.
On the other hand... If you have to ask it's probably a whole lot safer to have it done.

Well, sorry my english sucks a bit and i visibly didn't explained well
I exactly know how to bleed standard brakes, wasn't asking for that.
I just want to bleed my abs pump too, because she's filled of DOT4.
I already got FiatEcuscan, the good interfaces for it.
I connected to my abs, but just don't know what to do with valve : Load ? Drain ? Both ?
Sillybilly on this thread said "Load", but see an alfa 156 tutorial on youtube using "Drain", so asking...
For reminding, I changed all the hoses, so all the DOT4's gone away from the tank.
And, mainly, when to do it ? in the begenning of the filling process with DOT 5.1 ? during it ? after ?

5.0 is not to be mixed with another type of brakefluïd ever. However 5.1 can be mixed without a problem.

can you tell me i need to change the n/s rear calipercan i just clamp the flexie pipe off change caliper and then just bleed it like normal
Yes... just clamp the flexible pipe then bleed the new calliper as normal.
