Technical Boost on third?

Do I need a bleed valve with the gtec1 chip?

I thought that's over boost? ;) I presume you mean spiking as in fluctuation between 1.2 bar and 1.3 bar?

It is a form of overboosting, you'll probably find it "spikes" to about 1.5 bar for a milisecond and returns to 1.2 BAR. You may get away with it, you may not. Probably 50/50 either way. If it does happen, you can

* Fit a PRV
* Fit a PBV
* Try another EBV
* Fit an uprated EBV (eg Perrins)
* Fit an EBC

Ooh so many choices :p

Mine's doing exactly that, spiking to 1.5 bar. I've tried two EBV's, it's still the same. So I'm going the EBC route, hence why I approached HDI on a discount for the coupé forum.

Thanks for the info.
I'll see if it spikes. Bleed valve is probably first option.

Damn. Car has started stalling on idle. Seems to misfire too.
I haven't had a chance to fit the plugs so I don't know if it's that.
The new idle control valve is arriving tomorrow too.

So I guess if it isn't any of those it could be one o the coil packs.
Sigh. It was running so well this morning.

Monday it gets, new plugs, idle control vavlve, rocker cover gasket, and possibly coil packs. Fingers crossed.

It'll probably be the coil packs. I've had one go on both my 20VT's. Borrow/buy one and take it for a drive, placing it in each of the 5 pots. Only takes 4 min to unscrew the coil pack cover and change each coil pack. They deteriorate over time and cause misfires, loss of power, spluttering, and rough idle. It's only £15 for a s/h coil pack. Or it could be old or new but faulty spark plugs, I've had that too.

Regarding the possible spiking, I forgot the first, easiest fix - remove your existing EBV and give it a good spraying with WD40. sometimes they get gunked up and are slow to react to boost.

Cheers. I assume it's either coil pack or sparks.
Problem is, I can't get it looked at until Monday afternoon and I need the car as I have my boy this weekend.
Hohum.

The joys of running an 11 year old Fiat, unfortunately. Best thing is most of the parts have started to become obsolete and Fiat aren't stocking them :(

The joy!!! ;-)

Worst thing is, my parts didn't arrive today. I pray they arrive tomorrow or else I won't be able to put the new idle control valve on Monday.

Well the parts didn't arrive so I can't change the idle control valve unless it arrives Monday morning.
I'll change the plugs though and see if that helps.

Strange as it seems. The car is running a lot better today. Its not raining and is a sunny day and the car hasn't stalled once. Its still not running 100% smooth, but a lot better. It seems that the dampness in the air seriously affects it. What does the panel think this means?

I was thinking maf, but I have to eliminate the other things first.
The car used to rev irregularly if I left it for ten mins and then started it. Would then run smooth after a good rev.
Now it's mis firing which it never did.

Parts arrived this morning. Wooohooo.
Seeing Roger in an hour. Hopefully solve the problem.
