Blu's Suzuki Ignis Sport

Introduction

So been toying with getting one for a while but today i actually bit the bullet and bought one...

2004 Suzuki Ignis Sport - Its just clocked past 44k miles so not bad mileage for a 10 year old car. For them that don't know it is a 1.5vvti engine - seems a very good engine, pulls from very low down but also very revvy. It weighs in at under a tonne. Fantastic handling little thing too, really holds on through the corners, i'm impressed! Its pretty much a japanese panda 100hp except a little lighter and a litter faster out of the box. Still feels like a small car even after driving a cinq daily although i do feel like i'm sat REALLY high up!

Not much done to it, just has a SuzukiSport grill, which are supposedly pretty rare and desirable amongst suzuki people - certainly improves the look of the car no end (AC rad has been painted black so its not as noticeable through the grill too).

And it has some aftermarket alloys, not sure on the brand i didn't check with decent tyres (Toyo T1-Rs) - but i got the oem wheels with good tyres too - might keep them as winter wheels.

Oh and square plates are not standard either.

Anyhow, some pics......

The mk1 CRX is the lads new car, he bought it yesterday to replace the Iggy. Only 6 of them mk1 CRX in the UK according to howmanyleft, was a very cool car indeed. nearly all fibreglass and only weighs a bit more than a cinquecento except it has almost triple the power lol.

All in all I am most pleased - it is like a fiat though and the red is a bit flat - i shall machine polish it soon and hopefully it will come up really nice.

Massive thank you to Simon a.k.a buttflap212 for the lift and good to see you again fella ;)

Comments welcome.
Updates, yes probably.

So I've rebuilt the coilovers with the Cusco top mounts and new springs.

New track rod ends.

I tried to fit the rear arb but due to already have a brace sharing the bolt I need to order longer bolts, so that needs to wait again.

So car back together changed the ride height, adjusted up a smidge. It needs alignment before I can give it a good thrashing but yeah, what experience I have of them is good, very sticky and it's riding well with the taller profile tyre too. They are ofc a bit sketchy when it's really cold before they warm up a bit and I've not tried driving in the rain or anything.

In other news.

It also now has a carbon fibre bonnet.

And a couple of beauty pics of how it looks and sits atm.

So hadn't used the car in few months, the MOT ran out and then I booked on a stand at Japfest in April.
To that end, bit of a spruce up, get some bits done.

Bought some random pieces

Set about making an intake using the BMC CDA that used to be on our old Panda 100hp. Using a little bracket left from the Alfa 159 engine replacement, i think it held some fuel lines or something.

Once confirmed that fit I ran some ducting to the intake duct, which initially i had mounted in the grill

Since then i moved this to the lower grill but never took a pic, it just kept the piping nicer and further away from the exhaust etc.

Its also time to refresh the brakes, so buy loads more parts; ebd yellowstuff pads all round, ebc disc (went for blank style this time), motul rbf660 fluid, lots of brake cleaner, paint and all the seals and new pistons and slide pins for all 4 calipers.

And then obviously, strip, rebuild, fit all that

And then earlier this week

We went for the MOT, all is well but i think i need to bleed the brakes some more still.

Will hopefully be further updates before the show in April, if I can find time.

So as i may or may not have said on here, many moons ago I bought a stand ticket for Japfest. True to form, day before car was still dirty so.

Washed and then round back for some polish, few stickers cause can't help myself, cleaned inside and new actual legitimate genuine suzuki mats that actually fit nice - only took me 9 and a bit years lol.

Filling up at 5am meant it had to have tesco99 this time instead of its usual tipple from shell or esso

6am ish, somewhere in the Cotswolds outside a closed down pub... cause of course I beelined straight across the Cotswolds on country lanes rather than use a main road like normal people, that's why i have this car right? lol

Long Sunday it was, my legs still hurt from the miles and miles of walking lol. But the car was epic, recent changes have made good improvements and it drove flawless (y)

As ever, I have more bits already to fit - and a very special something on a boat from japan as well. So will update again eventually.

Currently trying to fit a new rear brace designed to not have interior trim but while still having interior trim and it not looking gash.. not figured that out yet, shall update...

Yeah proper mix of machinery there.. Was meet put on by Forest of Dean Motor Club, which is a motorsport club hence all the rally cars. I'm not a member but this one was an anyone is welcome to come say hi kinda meet. My neighbour invited me (he's the green mini, and his dad the white mini in between his and my car). I really need to make an effort and get out to more stuff though!

Yeah but you can say the same about most cars now really.. my first 3 cars, beetle, mini, beetle.. Them 3 cars now would probably be like 50k worth of car, I sold all 3 for a litle over 1k combined lol.

My Punto GT, thats worth almost 10x what i sold it for too.

Sucks as most cars i really really want by rights should be cheap as chips but are all way outta my budget, moreso than they ever have been and just getting less obtainable every year.

But yes, in my youth, a 205GTi was 100% one of the dreams.
