Blue key programming

I've recently bought an N reg 1.4 Fiat Bravo and bought a blank key which has been cut for my lockset.
Someone in the MOT garage said that i can program the key myself if im in possession of the red key, which i have.
Does anyone know the sequence for programming the new key

as far as im aware you have to go to the fiat dealer etc, to code new keys.,.,
i think the red key method is only suitable for resetting a current key thats gone bad.,.,,
I could be wrong on this? if anyone can clarify???
