Best way to get a new windscreen

Got a stone chip on my windscreen on the punto, which put a long crack all the way along the bottom of my screen (need a new one for definate)

Whats the cheapest way to get a new screen for my car, im not fully comp on insurance, but i am a member of the RAC (wethere that makes any diff or not i dont no).

Obv i wanna get it replaced ASAP because of the dangers, but am strapped for cash at the moment.

Scrappers came across my mind, but with the removal and refitting i doubt it would be cost efficient

Scrappers is a false economy really. I looked in to it a while back and I think removing the screen can be quite troublesome without damaging it.

I found autoglass quoted me £100 for a new screen fully fitted which is about double the excess if you had windscreen insurance, so not all that bad.

i know £100 isnt bad, but its 100 i dont have at the mo really, i was wondering if there was any other way to do it??

Sorry to hear about the screen , i have had 3 of the damn things in the last 4 months!! well my advice would be to have one fitted by autoglass etc.
As for a second hand one not really an option as to get a good seal again is just about impossible its bad enough with new ones , hence why i have had 3 in the last 4 months , nuff said !!

In short Ryan, no.

If you want a new windscreen, the best way (in both long and short term) will be to get a professional company to do it.

If you can't afford to get it done. Put the car off the road until you can.

what i meant really was, can i claim off the RAC or can i go fully comp for a short while and then get the windscreen fixed??

All depends if its in the insurance package or not. 99% of TPFT insurers don't cover windscreens.
