You should be looking for an idiot owner who you can persuade to sell it cheap. It should be really cheap even if it is pristine.
See FAQ on buying a Cinq... keys i.e. immobilisers, brown blue keys, 150 £ off etc.
The recc for cam belt is 32k miles.
I was lucky I got mine to drive all the way home before failing.
Fix it again tomorrow - FIAT.

Rust in the boot at the back of the arches, Fatigue cracks around the door opening if it has been lowered

There will be a reason it is cheap you just need to find out what it is my guess would be head gasket on it's way out

Thanks for that, I'll read the FAQs later.
It's cheap because it's been traded into a non-Fiat dealership where my mate works - he can get me it for the trade in price.

Oh right.
The local FIAT dealers are full of show persons who have no customers to talk to, they are real despondant when you ask for parts department.
Theri jobs are not at all secure, likely big reduction in sales staff numbers.
They have new, prereg, demo, just run in vehicles that are just not shifting.
2nd hand values have plummetted, scrap prices are not good only copper if holding up well.
If they dont slash the price walk away.

Fiat dealers wont sell it, forget slashing price they wont even have it up for sale, it will be behind the dealership ready for the auction, or to an independent dealer where majority of main delaer trade ins end up.
Theyve already made their profit on the trade in

You don't make profit on a trade in you make a profit on shifting the new one, more profit in shifting a nice second hand. In the past (in boom) they would have got an internal price for trade ins that they did not want to try to sell, now they are going to be (as difficult) to give away.
When people are made redundant and sell their auto the 2nd hand market slips like the stock exchange.

The guide took a hammering from October to December, and now cars are trading into book.
The latest guide is showing a further increase

Thank god for that!
Everything can be fixed, generally cheaply, certainly for less than Alfa money. Just think, no need for an engine rebuild if the cam belt snaps, no need to prat around with variators or £70 special cam tools, no need to dismantle the whole underside of the car to get at the starter motor.................

I had it done at the mot place for £20, but the end result ain't great not as good as my others!!!! (but is a job i totally hate!!!)Ming

The car is yellow, on a 1999 T-plate and will come with 12 months MOT.
