Technical battery light is on"

The battery light is on now all the time.
How much is it to get a new alternator?
where is the alternator on the car? I can check the belt but probably not change the alternator.

I've got a 1.2 and had the same problem. Cost me £240 for supply and fit at an independent. hopefully its just the belt though!

Air-con fitted? If so it complicates the job and adds to the cost.

Rang up fiat, taking it in on thursday morning to be looked at by a fiat tech. Under 3rd year warranty it is covered but I shall see. I havent been the best at servicing the car so ill see if they let me get away with it.
If it isnt covered under warranty will they charge me for their time?
