Yellow B with a bird driving it spotted in Stavanger today - SS on holiday and in drag? :)

You won't see many..25 here in total on Irish plates according to Fiat, so maybe 100 max if you count UK/NI plates?

Come out to Mullingar and I'll show you the only one within miles and miles...

Guy in the garage last night asked me if it was a 'new shape' MX5....

a silver B spotted parked in front of La Poste at Centre Hamilius in Luxembourg Ville Centre around 18:50 LT.

I have covered around 1100miles this week from Manchester, Southampton, Nottingham, Leicester.......Not a B in sight!!

After doing 4,500 km between Edinburgh and the south of France and back again (not to mention much meandering in between), I had given up hope.

Then, the day we got the ferry back to Newhaven spotted a red fellow parked opposite the main glut of seaside restaurants in Dieppe. I had a large lunch to celebrate. Ragtops don't seem to be all that popular in France though.....probably because Peugeot, Citroen and Renault don't make 'em.

The French certainly show loyalty when it comes to the home brands.

They do make a few. Mostly tintops with the roof cut off..Citroen Pluriel, Renault Megan with an electric metal lid which isn't bad (if you like that sort of car) and the old Dolly 2CV with the red roll up cafe roof. I think there is a Twingo cabriolet as well?

I have noticed that the French are quite interested in cards and are happy to stand around the car and ask about it.

I was driving my wife's car the other day and trying to turn into a side road by a crossing. A rather nice sounding Mustang went past and we noticed a couple who were crossing the road in conversation. The bloke stopped mid-sentence to turn and watch the Mustang and the wife had to come back and pull him across the road like an errant dog.

I don't know why but my Missus found it very amusing :D

I had to spend a lot more than necessary when washing the car in France. Kept running out of credit as people were asking about the B:D

Well I never, is this possibly an increasing Euro trend ?? My Dutch based brother called a few months ago to say the Engineer from work (Harleem nr Amsterdam) by coincidence had bought a red B (same as mine) he'd wanted one for ages apparently, then he called yesterday to say another Dutch chum had just bought "the car of his dreams" a silver Fiat B !! travelling specifically to Germany to buy it. So I believe the desirability factor is hotting up a tad in Holland. The Dutch chum said too he thought there were 'new' pattern hardtops on sale from Germany where the "B" market thrived most in Europe. I dunno the truth of that. The future classic label is getting bigger? His German silver one is bog std but he's now fitted winter tyres and wants a hardtop. If he gets it I'll ask where & how much.
I too have driven from London via France to Southern Spain and return on odd occasions and not seen another, yet there's a silver one based not a half mile locally and 2 others parked in Torrevieja. They are very rare beasts in my world otherwise.

Just spent a week in Portugal and didn't see a single B on the road there. Did see some lovely old Alfa's courtesy of some Portugese/Spanish classic car rally though.

Matt

Silver B with red/brown mohair top Route de Longwy , direction Longwy in Luxembourg (Merl) at 18:50 LT

I think it was a german licenseplate.

Five days in Paris and not seen a single B:cry:

A Barchetta in Paris, is a risky adventure. I think the body of the B. would suffer too much of the Parisian way (or "touch") of parking a car in the streets.

Unless the B. can really float on the Seine river ...
