Hi, I'm asking this before I break summat...... I have a 5dr 1.6active, its has the rear seats that fold forward in stages with a extendable boot cover. I want to put a large item in the boot so need to remove this strip. Can someone advise is it just sheer force and to push it up in either corner as mines is not budging and I've just had it back after being without for 2weeks due to electrical fault, so don't wanna bust summat else :) Thanks in advance for any assistance :D

Thanks for the info Davren, been out to have a look and I don't have any catches, thanks anyway

It's brute force.

Just give it a bash under one side (upwards) and then slide out from other side.

Fitting is exact reverse (but take care you don't try to fit back to front)

Yes. Strike it hard upwards on one side. Might hurt. Then tweak it out. The fiddly part is how the hell to get in in again, you might have to try 6 times, but when in place just strike it with you palm again (down this time) to make it fit.

Don't use force, especially when replacing it, or you will break the pegs it clicks into. Try to prise it up at each end to get it out and then just push at each end from above to replace it.

Well, I've been using pretty much 100% smashing power (with anger and irritation) every time the damn bar has gone out and then in again. I'd guess at least 50 times every year, so I can guarantee it will withstand 200 violent removals and replacals.

After I got the rear end tinted I've just put it in the attic. Noone can see inside anyway.

:yeahthat: (without anger & irritation)

There's no point pussyfooting around with the thing - just a sharp knock and it's either in or out.

As already said, don't do that if if you've tried to put it back the wrong way around as otherwise you'll likely break it  (that's why you should always slide one end in first as it wont slide in the wrong way)
