I'm about to do some welding in the front wheel arches of the old panda but don't know for sure where the load baring areas are to put it on axle stands. The porter manual doesn't say either.
It also needs welding just shy of the arches so thats out of bounds.

Not removing suspension just welding the rear of the arches, I'm not sure if understand where you mean jimboy, could you elaborate slightly?

right, i cant do pics or diagrams,so....on the rear of car under cross member or where the arb bolts on, ....on the front its just a case of slipping the stand under the inner of whishbone, where the nut/bolt is:)...hope that makes sense its actualy easy when you get down there & looking under the car(y)...best of luck

Thats where I put them, and at the back, anywhere along the rear wheel mount thing (can't think of the name).

You can see the trolly jack below..

Just one thing if it's got a cup it's ok there if not put it so it lies accross the arm

One more thing: Do you reckon I can lift the car (via trolly jack) by the sump/ gearbox guard? I can't get enough height via other spots to get the stands at full height.

Use the front jack point. Dirrectly under the front bumper in the center on the cross member. You'll see where it's different (more bits of metal) and jack it there(y)

You will need a decent and big trolly jack though:eek:

if you cant get the height use a block of wood, spread the weight..(y)
on no account jack up the car by sump guard or anything else a bit suspect at all:eek::eek::eek:...i dont want to sound all know all but this is quite basic stuff... anyway best of luck & watch yerself under the car:eek::D
