While that may be the case on newer cars warranty direct seem to rate fiat pretty well on mechanical reliability, coming in at 19th....ok some way behind Suzuki at *cough* 4th but ahead of pretty much every single German major marque

So to me it would seem while the aftersales are rubbish the cars themselves are at least decently reliable.

However alfa scored very badly in comparison

how many fiat owners on here took part in Autoexpress Driver Power 2012 survey?

lexarse came first but 35.3% (Didn't identify the fault)

where as fiat only 31.6% (Didn't identify the fault)

so we got better techs looking after our cars and with dealers charging loads to fault find looks like we are better off in the long run

Well until you take into account the relative complexity of the cars involved. Yes fiat have recently released slightly more complicated stuff with multiair and twin air but most of the stuff they build and the stuff that would have been in the survey has been around for years and the faults are well known. Like to see what a fiat tech would make of fault finding on a Lexus gs450 hybrid

I find all car dealers are the same as each other. Their your bestest friend when selling a car and once you bought your motor they don't want to know.

Oddly my suzi was bought (by the original owner) from a fiat, Suzuki and Citroen dealer who I then took it back to for work as I'd used them before on my fiats and they could not do enough under warranty so it suggests that reluctance to help is dictated from the top rather than by the dealership.
