Hi,
I have a metallic red 1997 MK1 60SX and it is my first car. I got it cheap to learn in and while it gets me from A to B, I'm getting very bored with it! Is there anything I can do to jazz it up? I don't mean a turbo engine or lowering or anything, I don't want to spend a fortune on it but would like to customise it a little! At the moment all it has is black and blue seat covers and an interior neon light strip that I got in Halfords, that sits along the bottom of the CD player. Is there anything else that's easy to do?

Also I was in a taxi the other night and it had the most comfortable leather seats!!! I would love some cream ones for the Punto but I know they cost a bomb to have installed- is it possible to go to a scrap yard and get some cheap, that will fit in a Punto? I know it will look ridiculous, a Punto with leather seats!!! :D It's the comfort I'm thinking of!!!

wont look stupid at all! might lok a little funny with the standard gray interior though.. lol anyways yes you could most definately have alook at a breakers for some seats. Ipicked up some sport seats fron an alfa romeo GTV and fitted them into my mk1 punto! vey comfy and great for cornering too! all you have to worry about is the width across the runers needs to be tha same, and to line up the holes for the bolts you just need to drill a couple of holes in the runners. dead easy. I fitted both my seats in a mater of minutes.

The inside of my doors are purple, my carpets are grey though and my dash is boring grey too! Ideally I would love an old wine/red Merc with cream leather seats and wood trim but the insurance would be sky high so I'll just have to do up the Punto! I've been looking on Ebay at fake leather seat covers- they look well, would love the real thing either if they're not too dear!

I might get one of those speedometer dials as well- the ones that light up fuinky colours! I think they're just white in the daytime though.

you woul have to get lockwood dials and multi colour LED's for that the standard dials are tinted green the lights behind are actually white. I painted y dash white. it can be quite difficult to ge out and takes time as itneeds to be sanded to make the paint stick properly and needs 2 or 3 coats an then laquering. a wouldnt buy seat covers, id get proper seats. seat covers never fit properly i have found.

ive got the sx60 too. imo there is no need to drill holes in the air box. as on the 60sx the airbox sits over the throttle body and would be kinda pointless. lol.

would be looking at interior mostly, in case I am ever selling the car on, some people really hate modded cars!

hes got the same punto as me. Deffo make sure its got clear indicators and side repeaters for a start. Then if you're feeling a little adventerous i saw an old mk3 fiesta last nite with wheel trim spinners available from halfrauds for only £30. They looked a treat! hahahaha

Jokee... please dont :)

I've drilled the airbox on mine and it makes a big difference, sounds a lot better and pull better up hills and in the lower revs.

i taped my holes up to try and save petrol once but ended up taking them off again as it felt **** slow lol

oh yeah get some neon washer jets and some ripspeed seatbelt covers :slayer:

ive done mine too. cant see alot of the difference to be perfectly honest.

a good few like. how many have u drilled drew? lol

O God....Boo this is your fault, all this airbox drilling :bang:

As for the mods...you should go with the subtle...clear repeaters and indicators, should be able to do these for about £20

Spray your dash, put sporting side skirts on, change your interior seats/doorcards/center consol from a higher spec model.
