for some reason my brother wants one and is asking me to go look at one at the weekend, it's a 1.6 not the 1.8 V6, which may of made the cars 'styling' bearable. just wondering if anyone has any experience with these cars and knows of specific areas to look at when viewing.

They do have quite a bit of oomph, my friend had one, sold it and went for a mx5.
To be honest look for rust on arches, underneath on the chassis and under door/sills etc. Usually later models not too bad.

Electrics have a habit of going wrong inside so make sure they work. Make sure no clonking from suspension and check the service history.

you beat me too it, forgot to mention the dodgey electrics, GFs dads mx6 if you close the doors with the keys in it locks and shuts the sunroof and puts windows up too lmao

looked at it, and bought it, i feel he payed too much for it, even though he did get £100 off, but then with tax on as well he didn't really save anything. It's not too bad, the engine seems quite revvy if a bit undramatic, not especially quick though. almost silent, feels like a modern car after driving my tipo. underneath is fine, no evidence of rust, probably due to it's low mileage.

Didn't see this a week ago...
The MX3 and MX6 are completely different. The MX3 1.6 was only sold in the UK with an automatic box IIRC, and was dog slow. :)

mx3 is definitely a manual, it's sitting on the drive at the minute, yes it's slow lol. it's my brothers first car (he passed his driving test when he was 17 though, so 6 years ago-ish)

it's a 1.6 16v with 106bhp engine, so comparable speed to a 1.6 hatchback  for some reason he was set on it.
