I had a quick search, but most of the recommendations were ebay links that all expired a long time ago!

Basically I would just like to replace the front speakers with something better and without needing to cut/leave off the grill.

Ideally 3-ways, but if not possible - then good 2-ways are ok.

I tried measuring the current distance between the speaker and grill, but due to the curve couldn't get it very accurate.

Would something like this work?

Hello,

As far as I remember, the standard speakers are 10 cm with mountings on the edges of the square. Like the one from the link. It is very hard to make such small speakers produce a decent sound. I know that people were putting bigger speakers (16 cm) in the doors. I think that I've seen on the market special adapters that will 'remodel' the door interior. But it was years ago, when the Cinquecento was still in production.

Voila :D

The offer is no longer available though. But the description says 'sporting ccs abarth'.

And more of them:

Frankly speaking they look rather like 13 cm, not 16. Perhaps the 16 cm I remember were not a factory option, as those ones on the pictures above. Apparently there's a mouting for a tweeter also prepared, but it requires cutting a hole (it's best visible on the photo of the back side).

And I've also found this online, looks like for a Seicento:

It seems the shop is still online:

And another one for the Seicento here:

These speakers seem to be dedicated to Cinquecento, there are precise dimensions in the description, you could compare with the ones from Amazon:

I have been looking at a lot of these old threads as well, looking to update things in my mk1 Punto but it seems many of those old products no longer exist. The other issue I am finding is that the market for car speakers is nothing like it was when I was in my teens/early 20s, there were car audio places all over the place and Halfords would have dozens and dozens of options to choose from. Now they have about 10 choices in my local halfords all 10 of which are different in size to one another in some way, leaving you with only 1 product that fits the size you want, you can still get loads of stuff online but then you have know way of knowing it will fit when you get it. Speakers being measured in the size of the cone and not the distance between screw holes.

So if you do buy anything I would be interested to get some proper measurements and a review of the quality.

Hi Ben here is a pic of the speaker & the grill, unscrew the 4 allen key bolts holding the speaker/grill into the dash & the whole lot comes out as one piece, unplug the connector & its completely removed, the 2 gold screws are what holds the speaker onto the grill

& once the speaker has been taken out here is a pic of how much clearance there is, it's not a lot

The black bit you see behind the wiring is basically the bulkhead so I wouldn't really go any bigger than standard as I think clearance might be an issue, hope this helps

Here are pics of the speakers separated from the grill, the speaker itself has a cover over the top of it which has pretty much no clearance as it sits virtually right against the grill when their screwed together but there's nothing directly underneath the cover as the speaker bit itself sits a bit further back from the cover & seems like it's dished bit like if it had a tweeter dome etc when you feel it

Hi Ben

If you're still on the lookout for a pair of speakers for Zoe, I've just fitted these Vibe ones from Halfords, they don't come as a pair though, you have to buy them individually

Then also got these adapters so they are fitted to the factory wiring

& here is a pic of them fitted with the factory speaker grills

Although these speakers have 4 mounting holes you can screw the 2 onto the grill as standard & once you're happy with the position the 2 extra unused screws holes on the speakers are designed to be snapped off & they have to be snapped off in order to fit in the dash with the grill, they also have much better clearance than the original speakers & for the price of them they actually produce really good sound
