I'm trying to get a Panda Cross with the TwinAir engine, but nowadays it is really difficult to buy it in Spain. The dealers have depleted their stock of TwinAirs, and are desperate to sell the remaining diesel:)() units. (I just test drove one Multijet Cross today, and I love the car but hate the "motor". It feels powerful but laaaaaggggy (n))

The dealer told me that they are not allowed to order new units because the "series 1" is over, and until the release of the "series 2" Panda Cross the only possibilities are either buy their ¿demo? units or transfer the available TwinAir from a distant seller, but it takes two weeks and must be paid without a test drive. It is too much money to regret the buy from day one (like could have happened with a blind-buy of the Multijet).

Besides, I am afraid of paying full price for an old spec "series 1", just to find some big improvement next week or next month...

Do you have any info on the series 2 differences? There have been big improvements in the past when stepping the series number?

Buying the series one would only make sense if you could get a heavy discount otherwise it wouldn't make much sense.
New model seems to have new interior colors, new uconnect radio and a slightly different steering wheel with a flattened bottem. Nothing realy gamechanging imo.

I thought the whole reason the EU was so wonderful was because you could just duck across the border to a more sensible country, test drive a car or three and purchase from a dealer network that actually wants your money.

Maybe I'm just jealous because here in Australia, that sort of restriction sounds almost libertarian

Yeah. I feel for you mate. However, don't put up with the bull****. If you're serious about the car, go somewhere else and buy one, then tell the dealer. Similarly, buy something else, then tell the dealer. I realise it may not be the dealer's fault, but written complaints with negative outcomes can be sent back to Fiat and maybe they'll learn from it. I doubt it though, having seen the way they treated the Panda here in Oz where one of Europe's most popular cars was essentially unsellable here... so rather than fix their marketing mistakes, they just stopped importing them. :bang:
