Hi I am running a rockford fosgate head unit and an alpine monoblock v12 amp with s-type sub in my bravo and the electrics are DYING!! I need to know what kind of main battery or device I need to stop the lights etc dimming. Someone mentioned plonking a truck battery in there, does that make sense? if so which one should i look out for.

I don't really want to spend more than £50 so that rules out an autoleads capacitor i think.

Thanks in advance.

Battery troubles

Im not sure whats the problem with your electrics but ive got a kenwood head unit and a V12 amp thats running a Alpine type S sub. ive never had the problem your having. maybe your battery is just week and needs re-charging or maybe your altinator needs looking at (it might not be charging the battery enough). I also never have my stereo on unless the engine is running. Hope ive been some help, good luck!

You're not going to get anything for less than £50.

Do the lights dim with the beat or all the time? Could be your current battery is f**ked. How is it all wired in? Have you got a suitable cable going from the battery to the amp? (and fused at the battery end!)

sorted

Hi I posted this message a while ago and have since purchased a RF capacitor which has seriously helped with the power drain problem. There is still a slight dimming at top end with full bass but I expected that. It is certainly no where near as bad as before installing the capacitor. I may upgrade the battery in the future but for now it's okay. Thanks for everyone's help.

Re: sorted

Dunno if you can get them in the UK but the yellow Optima battery is the best...

Same problem

I even took my car to a auto electrician he kindly told me to take the long way to anywhere I'm going or don't play my stereo so loud. Seems the Battery isn't getting enough charge on short trips because of the amount of current the amp is drawing.

Re: Same problem

Hehe!! Better take his advice! :)

Thats the BIG problem, its all very well putting bigger or several battieries in your car but the alternator only has a finite capacity and simply won't charge them.

Its the fundamental limit, next step is to tow a generator behind you. :)
