I’ve kind of noticed a there is quite a lot of threads about overheating and hot running Pandas. Mine continually scares me in hot weather and heavy traffic. It did ‘use’ a bit of water, but that was with no antifreeze. After I added a 1:1 mix things settled down.

Having done the 'geek' bit, and read up about antifreeze, it is clear that it raises the boiling point significantly and that the FIRE engine uses these extra few degrees to the full when the going gets hot. A fully pressurised system with antifreeze is vital if you want the coolant to stay where it should.

Summer's on the way - check you antifreeze guys !!!

YOu are, of course, right. - A boiling rad - just because you've no antifreeze/coolant in is no fun!

Incidentally, the boiling point of the coolant is raised dur to the antifreeze being added AND because the sytem is pressurized.
In low pressure, water boils at a lower temperature - which is why you always get crap tea on an aeroplane and Tea tastes even worse at the top of mount everest!!!!!

Sprox is right ! An aircraft is pressured to an equivalent height of about 8000 feet. That is a lower pressure than at ground level but higher than at the altitude it flies.

You can't fly after scuba diving either - because you risk decompression sickness or the 'bends'.
So on a diving holiday, don't dive on the last day and drink as much good tea as you like because you won't get it on the plane home:D
Interesting to note that caisson workers used to get the bends after long periods of working in pressurized 'bells' at the foot of such bridges as the Tay bridge:(

Us coffee coniseur's know that coffee should be made at 85 degrees :p

otherwise it scolds the coffee and much like burnt garlic isn't really that great...
but luckily for the masses instant coffee is pre-ucked before you add water.

So does instant coffee made at 100C taste worse than that made at 85C?

As the Dead sea in Israel is 300M (or feet - I can't remember which) BELOW sea level - what sort of cup of tea do you get there?
Apart from the fact you get Liptons waterproof t-bags in such countries and they haven't heard of PG tips Pyramid bags either.
What so the japanese do up mount fuji? Are they slightly fed up with their weak tea ceremonies?

Right! i'm off to make a cup of tea in the Plymouth Compression chamber! I can get down to the equivalen to f 6 Atm pressure - should be nice and strong!! or will it taste burnt Alan?
I'm sure Nitrogen Narcosis makes everything taste brilliant!:spin:
