Morritt said:we need more lanes on the motorways, its ridiculous when a lorry/caravan overtakes doing like 65, they take a couple of miles to slowly creep past and everyone is forced to use the outside lane causing congestion with everyone backing up.
plus coppers dont help, whenever you see a large group of cars at 70 you know theres a copper sat in the inside lane doing 60-70, everyone else slows up till they can get past.
jenks69 said:I don't agree with what your saying there, with lorries overtaking it's the muppets that dont read the road properly, 90% of people jump straight into the overtaking lane, even though it's often not going any faster, then there's the fool thats right up the lorries ass, then jumps into the overtaking lane without matching the speed of that lane, causing panic braking!
As for the coppers doing 60-70, well they are the law and they don't break it. I don't get what the problem is, again it's muppets that won't overtake a copper unless they are creeping passed. People see a cop car in front and panic brake. Most of the groups of traffic on motorways that I have seen are nearly allways caused by idiots panic braking.
Panic braking is my biggest pet hate on the motorway! If people read the road properly, and didn't bunch up in the first place there should hardly ever be a need to brake on the motorways! If there's enough distance in front of the car, chances are lifting off slightly will keep the gap large enough! Without the whole motorway comming to a stand still becuase a few people braked in panic!

Start your own political party It's a right you have.PNL said:S...where does that leave us somewhat up a gum tree me thinks
baz_78 said:Have to agree with Trancendental - panic breaking and people not reading the road are major causes of traffic problems. But also the middle lane hoggers who sit there all day long doing 50mph...
The police should concentrate on improving this situation before looking for other options. If you add another lane to the motorway, people will still sit in the middle lane not making full use of the road!!! Education and enforcement of 'proper' driving need to take precedence...
Also think hard shoulders are necessary as I would not like to have to take my 19 month old son (& heavily pregnant partner) for a long walk down the side of a motorway to find a safe spot/layby where we could then wait for help!
