Technical Airbag Light / Error Codes (not on Airbag ECU)

Hi can anyone help please. We have a Ford KA2 based on the Fiat500. I have all the multiscan leads for the fiat and have an airbag light that keeps coming on.

I have tried the connector under the seat, also a new battery and have today found these code from Multiecuscan:

Thats says the opposite of what you are telling us..


Use the MES in Actuators to trigger the individual Dash Warnings..

will help to spot if your vehicle is truly compatible


Do you get a RED and Yellow warning?

Hi thanks for the quick reply.

I think the instrument error was an old one when water got in car. This error has gone now.

Only code I get now is the B1000-49 I tried the actuator settings and can see the ohms and when I plug the seatbelt in etc.

not sure on red and yellow warning. I get Yellow airbag dash light, then a beep saying airbag failure refer to users manual.

Forgot to say the yellow airbag light goes off, but comes back on again when the ignition is switched on :/

Checked this morning light off again (after overnight without being moved)

Heres's a pic of the actuators:

and a Scan from scratch this error was still there (but no light so weird).

Still havent fixed So far:

New Battery

Check wires under both seats. Take Seat out? OK

Check Seat Belt Latch - OK

Check Earth - OK

Check ohms while steering wheel being rotated. - OK

check behind b pillar - Cleaned OK

Check Proxy alignment - All OK

Disconnect Battery for 24 hours (did for 5 hours) Reset

Check Fuse - OK but changed to fresher looking ones.

Check Door wire plug by seatbelt (yellow) -checked.

New Airbag ECU (from Ebay)and Proxy aligned OK.

Cleaned Airbag module conenctors?

Thinking it must be the dashboard cluster now, although it's all working OK.

Care to list the history of this..??

Months trouble free.. no previous work done.. or other niggles?

Hi thanks for reply.

We have had the car since new - nearly 13 years.

Only other problem we had was:

Leak into cabin from joint under by bonnet hinge. The speedo clusters did play up (faint lights) but when dried out was fine but this was about 5 - 6 years ago. Everything still dry.

Washer one way T piece blocked lowering pressure to front washers recently-quick fix

First of I don’t know

Reading through the thread I don’t think I can even point you in the right direction, yet

It’s a waste of time leaving the battery off for hours. Nothing of any important is stored in temporary memory

You have a yellow airbag dash light with a beep. With a message about the airbag failure along with a B1000 error code, I don’t have Fords specific codes but assuming it’s the same as some other cars it’s saying the body computer can’t connect to the airbag module. Which is likely. Given it matches the errors. It’s also says the fault is still present.


Airbag ECUs normally have to be exactly the same part number with no crash data so can be a bit hit and miss of eBay

I don’t have the wiring diagrams for the Ka2 to check the wiring

So pointing you in the right direction is going to be tricky

H yes it was intermittent last year. Started again this year but mostly on now.

Yesterday light was on. Wife drove 12 miles. Sitting still for 3 hours drove back light on.

Turned on this morning - light was off. Moved car onto drive (10 meters) and when we turned key again light was on.

Normally anything on the SRS does not reseat

Just want to say thanks for replying and trying to help, really appreciated.

Airbag module was exactly same part number. The proxy realignment worked first time as well and when tested got the same B1000-49.

It is odd.

Yes it’s odd

SRS errors normally don’t self clear either

Does the KA2 use a key operated switch to turn off the passenger airbag ?

HI no the KA2 doesn't have th switch, I think you have to get Ford to do it :/

the intermittent nature with Both set.ups seems to agree

Had any Accessories fitted??

Hi eBay seller had excellent feedback and only sells e us. He said it was tested and working ok. He also called me to make sure correct part number. This Car hasn't been crashed and error is the same,

The fiat software works really well but am thinking I might need to go to a ford dealer or ford specialist as it might some more info the fault Or even a slightly different code.
