Technical Air Conditioning

So I press in the temp knob and you can hear the compressor (or clutch or something) turn on for maybe 5 seconds then turn off. No cold air.
Any thoughts?
I had halfords do their 'free check' which was just attaching a bottle and checking the pressure and his bottle guage showed 'warning' and he said it may be the compressor.

It should cycle in and out. Sounds like Halfords don't know what they're doing, as pressure issues won't tell you exactly where the issue is.

I'd take it to another garage and ask for a refill. They'll check for leaks and then refill it accordingly for you
