Is it possible to run a supply directly to the + of the clutch on the compressor and fire it up that way?
Sure (but that'll be 12v of course and watch your fingers) but you want to find out if the LPS is where the problem is. If you take control there and everything works then you know everything downstream from there is working ok,(relays, sensors and wiring) and you should have pinpointed the missing link. From there you just need to find out is it the sensor or the wiring to and from it?

I would doubt if it's the sensor they are quite robust
If you have lost refrigerant you have a leak you can still
have 7psi in the system and have a leak it's just that
when the system presurises the gas overcomes the resistance
and leaks out of the system. Believe me I have wasted a
can of refrigerant trying to get the system working before
finding the leak in the pipe which is a well known manufacturing
fault on Stilos and punto's. See if a local aircon place can
pressure test with nitrogen and leak detector fluid before
using your cans.
