re: Air Bag warning light & connectors

Done the connections under the seat with contact cleaner and appears to be OK.

I will give it a week and see how it is.

Cheers

re: Air Bag warning light & connectors

I've got the same problem with the airbag warning light constantly on and the stop engine message always flashing!
What is the best way to stop this problem or where are all the connections i need to check??

re: Air Bag warning light & connectors

There are the two well known conections under the seats, there is the connection of the passenger a/b and its located on the ceiling of the glove department (and under the fridge). You'll have to unscrew a little cover, and there are two more connections for the curtain a/b located in the rear near the top eddings of the rear shocks.
You'll need to pull the two side pockets on top of the rear wheel arches...

Hi Silly question but I can see the wires under the seat but they appear fixed so how can I get to them? Also is it the one covered in a tape type material
Thanks

re: Air Bag warning light & connectors

I managed to fix my STOP ENGINE poblem by cleaning the negitive terminal to the battery, that had oxidation with a wire brush. It could be the the sensor is senitive to power drop?

plod,
have a look at the guides section for a step by step. The connectors are secured to a plastic panel that hinges outwards when you unclip it.

Hi, ive tried the obvious ones under the seats and its not worked for me unfortunately damm.

Can you be a bit more clear on where the connectors are in the back for curtains, (are they in the boot) ive not a clue where you mean

Thanks

Kev

re: Air Bag warning light & connectors

Yep, in the boot on each side is a compartment that you need to open then remove, they are just velcroed in. Behind these you'll see the top of the rear shocks and above them an orange connector.
Hope that helps.

re: Air Bag warning light & connectors

Cheers minimad99, found them straight away

Ive now done all the connectors and still no joy, also removed the neg from the battery cleaned it and still nothing.

Is there a way of clearing the faults from the car other than taking it to a dealer.

If i were to remove the neg from the battery for a few hours would this clear it.

Thanks for the help

Kev

re: Air Bag warning light & connectors

normally the airbag fault doesn't require resetting as such, when i've had the issue then the cleaning just did the trick.
Have you checked the guide to establish if you have an OCS fault rather than a connector issue?

re: Air Bag warning light & connectors

Following this with interest as I too have this prob!

Please can you tell me waht an OCS fault is...

Diane

re: Air Bag warning light & connectors

Have a look in the Stilo Guides up above
OCS= Occupant classification sensor ie it detects is anyone sat there, how heavy are they and where are the sat? Do they have clean underwear? Lard ass or midget?

re: Air Bag warning light & connectors

Hi, could it be the ocs, the symptons i have

airbag warning, light is constantly lit when i turn engine on with beep beep turn off engine, this happens every single time if someone is in the passenger seat or not.

Is there any other way i can test it, i dont want to buy one then find out its not that.

Thanks

kev

re: Air Bag warning light & connectors

Process of elimination. Have you gotten to all the easier airbag connectors
Both under seats
Rear over shock absorber
Front air bag accessible from drop panel under front top glovebox

OCS shows signs of gradually dying by going off when people sit on or move on the seat but then soon becomes an instant warning as soon as you switch on. If the passenger seat OCS is lumpy when you run your hand over it then it's usually on it's final farewells

If you haven't had the car long or it was firing off airbag warnings when you bought it then the only way is an airbag diagnostics to find out exactly where the problem is. Shouldn't be that expensive and certainly cheaper than just trying an OCS mat. There's also the side airbag connectors if you have them, curtain airbags and even the airbag ecu can be reason for the warnings

Deckchair

Ive had car about 2 1/2 years, ive had airbag problem for around 8 month, tried the connectors around that time didnt work so gave up, but im going to sell car so want to get it sorted.

Ive done connectors under seat, rear over shocks and in glove box

it went off one day and remined on until i got it reset by dealer who couldnt find anything wrong, it came back on about 3 weeks later and has remained on ever since

re: Air Bag warning light & connectors

What other air bags do you have? Side airbags? Rear airbags? Curtain airbags? It could be any one of those (or not) :)
Depends how much you want to get into it

Don't forget the passenger air bag on/off switch. That sometimes causes problems too

OCS started twitching the yellow dashboard sensor warning for no reason when mine was dying

re: Air Bag warning light & connectors

I would guess you just had side air bags the same as mine

pass air bag disconnect switch.JPG
Have look around the passenger on/off switch and see if that's your problem. Would be nice:)
