Air bag light has been on permanently. Is this a contact issue (under the seats) that WD40 could solve?

Any quick solutions to rear windshield washer not squirting?

air bag light issue going around this site just search for it.
as for the washer it'll prob be the hose thats came off, take the cover off the boot and look at the washer pump u will prob see the hose dangling, just pop it back over and use a glue os sealer to hold it on.

Cheers balny, washer was exactly that. Yeah the airbag thing is a pain in the ass. Seems like they don't even work properly anyhow.

If this is the same fault as on older Fiats then its due to the cheap n nasty connectors under the seats. If you move the seat with the ignition on then the airbag light comes on (the connectors short to earth on the floor) and the airbag ECU fault light stays on until the fault is cleared. This means no airbags deployment and no seat pre-tensioners in an accident. Fiat will charge you £70 to re-set though you can get kits off ebay which work fine.

Fiat airbags do work..quite well. Been there in the Stilo.

The fix is a) don't adjust the seat with the ignition on b) Cut out the cheap yellow plastic connectors and either replace with a set of Maplin plugs or solder the cables together.

C) Buy a Ford Focus.

Vince what airbags do you have exactly? If you have the passenger airbag the only thing you can do is check the passenger presence detector/connectors/wires. If you want to check the passenger seat sensor you should disconnect the car battery and wait at least half an hour to prevent adding more errors or setting the bags off.

This means no airbags deployment and no seat pre-tensioners in an accident.
I would not say either point is true, the seatbelts are not linked to the Airbag ECU in anyway, they are mechanical. On the Mk2 there is a wire near the front seatbelts but that is a deceleration satel-lite sensor. You should get the airbag system checked if the light is on im not saying do not, but I am saying the system works in a safe mode under certain conditions with the error light on. For example when the passenger presence detector fails the whole airbag system is armed and the warning light is on.

Adrian, ive got the swanky trofeo W reg 86K 1.2 (steal at £450) with the passenger and sidebags. I think youre right i will take to the boys down the fiat dealer. I'll go in my rags so they kno im poor. Ive looked under the seats and theres defnitely tho plastic housing boxes and in them are some wimpy looking connectors. In my Multipla because it has the kids (the trof is my cruisemobile) i got underseat connetcors fixed with a good squirt of wd40 and job done no more probs. Im not a autolecky so i dont know my electrics that well.

If i disconnect battery 9reset the ECU0 is there a risk ill get any other lights. from some of the posts here it feels like ive potentialy got fairy lights in the dashboard!@!!

Are there pretensioners in the mk 2? Cheers vin

Suggest you check. Fiat advise that if the airbag dash light is on you won't have airbags working. Also if you have seatbelt pretensioners they are electric powered: certainly are on my Barchetta, ditto Coupe and Stilo. Perhaps the Punto is different..electric not mechanical and fired by the airbag ecu.

You can alway test your theory of airbags by disabling the system so the light comes on. Then find a good long straight stretch of road with a solid wall at the far end. Apply car to wall at about 40Mph and see what happens...:bang:

I gave you the standard fault with Fiat airbags (wiring under the seats) and the standard cure (new connectors and an airbag re-set) If you want to dispute that and get narky than thats entirely your issue.
