Just bought a 2013 Panda 4x4. The dashboard temperature says ‘—-‘, so after pulling the passenger mirror apart, found there was no external temperature sensor there. I assume if the dash displays ‘—-‘, it originally did have a sensor in the passenger mirror? Perhaps changed by previous owner? Have already bought nipple sensor with 2 wires.

From the mirror to nearest connector inside car there are 5 wires. Yellow, white and grey for mirror motor movement and 2 brown wires for heated element. No other wires.

From the connector, back in to the car, there are 7 wires. Grey, purple/black, black, grey/white, brown/black, purple/green and yellow/grey.

Anyone know what 2 wires, out of the 7, I could splice in to, to get the temperature sensor working?

Any other advice appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Are you sure it's the external temperature that should be shown by the ---? As far as I remember, my 2011 Ducato shows -- C.

Is there an A/C on the car? Manual, or automatic? In my opinion the sensor should be there only for the automatic A/C, but as in the case of my van, it is possible to retrofit the sensor and connect it to the dash through the BSM for manual A/C, too.

What engine is it?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I believe it’s the external display shown dashed. I’ve seen quite a few images online. The engine is the Twin Air petrol. Can anyone who has a Panda confirm that my dashed display should show the external temperature on the central orange digital display?

Thanks. Yes, just had a look. It is the display for the outside temperature.

So, as I thought, the temperature sensor is installed only with automatic A/C.

I've generated all of the heating + A/C docs.

When you confirm the manual and automatic A/C docs you will find where to connect the sensor to :)

Thanks for the information, although a bit confused. I thought it would be a simple case of identifying the 2 wires on the other side of the mirror loom connector and splice the sensor in to them, as there were 5 wires coming from the mirror side and 7 wires beyond the connector?

That might not be the case. In the x250 Ducato with manual A/C the external temperature sensor wires need to be run down to one of the connectors in the driver's step. So beyond the door loom.

Go through the 2 docs (manual and automatic A/C) and find a way how to connect it. You've got everything you need. Wiring diagrams, element location (although only for LHD, the doc for the RHD is not available), descriptions, wiring colour code.
