Hi all Uno fans!

Anyone going to the Ace Cafe this Thursday? I couldn't make the last one due to college, but hope to get to this one.

For those interested, more info is at the link below and also in the Calender section of the Fiat Forum.

All going to plan, I should be there too in my humble little 45S. Don't think I'll get a chance to wash it before then though :(

People start turning up from about 7pm or earlier, though to show your car in the car park you should try and get there before 8pm as it gets filled up pretty quick after that. Every time I've been it's always got full and you have to park on the street outside.

I've posted the date in the Turbocollective site as well, so maybe we can get a few more turbo boys down as well.

Will be great to see your rally Uno there SuperUno! And Drue1, be nice to see your super clean turbo there as well.

Anyone else going? Fro$ty? Turboned?

Oh, and the weather forecast was looking good for Thursday, but it's going to be a lot colder so bring a jacket ;)

See you guys on Thursday (y)

Chas

If i am there, she won't be clean, or with matching tyres (knobblies on the back) and road tyres on the front.

May well go from work (north London) to get there for 7pm.

Will post tomorrow, whether or not i'll be there.

Cheers

Matt

Nottingham - Uni.

Well, you can still come down. It's 'only' a 240 mile round trip :D

Ok, if we're lucky we should have me, Turboned, SuperUno and Drue1 coming down. Interesting combination of two turbos, one rally car and one standard'ish 45! I think some of the boys on the Turbocollective site were expressing an interest too, so fingers crossed it might be a good turn out for the mighty Uno (y)

I'll leave Watford at around 7pm as the traffic before then is a nightmare. I should get there for 7.30pm'ish.

Won't be there this time :-

a) Too wet at the moment
b) no legal spare tyres - so don't want to risk a puncture and then getting pulled by the old bill.
c) Need to spend the time fixing the old girl

Will eb there at the next one deffo, hopefully i will have the Lombard rally plates on the car then and she'll be in final revival rally spec.

That's a shame :( It would have been good to see a rally Uno and got some low down info.

BTW, it's going to be dry tonight, already is here in Watford!

Hope you can make the next one (y)

Well, the numbers were down on the last one I went to, but there were more Uno turbo's in one place than I've ever seen before. In fact I think the Uno's outnumbered all the other models there! Six in total turned up (including mine and Turboned's) - five turbos and one 45S (y)

Looks like most of the exotica and classic Italian cars have gone into hibernation for the winter though :(

I took some pics, but as it was dark they didn't come out that well. I'll post them up anyway in the next few days so everyone can see and drool over a load of Uno turbos :D

Good to see Turboned again and have a good old natter about Uno's. And a massive thanks for the bonnet - really, really appreciated! I'm going to try and get it fitted over the weekend :)

I might be able to make the December one... :)

(won't be able to bring my Uno though...)

Hey, it would be good if you could make the December meet Alex!

For everyone else, here's some pics I took at the meet last Thursday. I missed the very, very clean mk2 Uno, but got all the others. Six Uno's in total, four mk1's and two mk2's. Out of those there were five turbos and one 45S!

Sorry for the poor picture quality, but it was dark and my camera flash isn't very powerful. :(

Next month maybe we can get SuperUno's rally Uno down, and hopefully Drue1 can bring his super clean mk2 turbo? Plus a few other people on the Turbocollective site are expressing an interest in coming to the next one.

Always fun to get a bunch of Uno owners together :)

Those pics have a certain 'spy' quality about them, Chas - nice stuff!

I can feel the wet and the cold too, just as our weather begins to hot up.

What is going on with the bulkhead of the Uno Turbo - it looked like a special material until I saw that the windscreen washer reservoir is the same colour - now I wonder if it's the original foil painted?

I like the yellow 127 visible in one of the pics - bet there were lots of keen owners to natter to.

Since you mentioned the non-powerful flash, it made me think back to some of my digital photo-taking. My camera has a 'night' mode where the shutter speed can be slowed down or set manually. A 1.3 second exposure tends to make day look like night! It was one of the main reasons why I chose the Canon IXUS - so I could get a nice photo of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Even just turning the flash off can be useful in certain cases - though I suppose this was pretty dark where you were.

As it turns out, I never got back to the Sydney Harbour Bridge with my new camera, but I'm sure I have some exciting photos of engine parts instead ;)

I wasn't wearing a dirty mac at the time, honest!

It was actually dry that evening, though an enormous puddle in the middle of the car park gave away the fact it was chucking down earlier.

That night was a bit chilly, but we've had a surprisingly warm October. Yesterday it was 21 degrees! But come December expect it to be damp and cold :(

I didn't notice that until you pointed it out. I'm not sure what it is, but if it's there at the next meet I'll try and find out.

There was another 127 as well, a blue one I think. Both standard models. Would love to see a Sport or 1300GT, but none have turned up yet. Always a lot of Fiat and Alfa enthusiasts there, and in the warmer weather Lancia, Maserati, Ferrari, Laborghini owners too. The owners are in general friendly and enthusiastic, and some will talk for hours about their cars!

Looks like it's the end of the season though, so it's likely to be quiet now until the spring :( I guess it's understandable that those who own older Italian cars don't want to bring them out in the rain and cold. They do have a habit of dissolving! :p

I have a night flash as well, plus the ability to turn the flash off and force the camera into a longer shutter speed. However, I've tried both and the pictures just come out blurred and fuzzy. It's a fairly low end camera, or maybe I need to use a tripod or something.

Still, if you can make the December meet you can see the cars for real :D
