General Accelerator Sticking on Cinq SX

Driving my friend home, I hear the very familiar sound of me forgeting to take my foot off the accelerator when changing gear, or at least that's what I thought.

Long story short, the car accelerates without my foot on the pedal, I think it's pedal-side as when I put my foot under it and lifted it away from the engine, it stopped.

How can I go about fixing this?

Try a bit of WD40 on the shaft where the accelerator pedal pivots. If that doesn't do it, lubricate the throttle cable (motorcycle chain lube is good for this). If that doesn't do it, just fit a new throttle cable.
