Does my Panda have ABS?
The owners' handbook is unclear. It says about ABS and explains it but says ................. "Where fitted".

1.2L Dynamic 2004 and 04reg.

I'm not going to slam on the brakes to find out!

Mick.

Back of the battery is there an ABS pump

As far as I know all 1.2 had ABS

A few early 1.1 active didn't but by mid 2004 it came as standard

Thanks again!
I'll look more closely later. It's chucking it down out there.

The car is a Mk3 1.2 Dynamic. First registered March 2004. Done nearly 108,000miles.
Our daughter bought it brand new, and we bought it from her only this March ........... basically on its 19th birthday.

Wonderful little car, and it makes a wonderful second car. No regrets at all.

It managed to stop raining for five minutes .................
Out, and bonnet up, and looked closely, but I could only see two pipes.
The area there is very cramped indeed, but I managed to squeeze my left hand down between the cables and hoses, and I could count four pipes.

I couldn't see, but I could feel!!

Therefore, I can confirm our Panda does indeed have ABS. :)

Thanks muchly,
Mick.

Cool

These a few way to check if a panda has ABS

Wheel sensors installed
Pump installed
Gear box speed sensor plugged in
Rear proportion valve fitted
ABS warning light on dash

Fiat were an early developer of ABS and adopted it early on

Usally lifting the bonnet and looking for the pump behind the battery is the easiest and most reliable without crawling around

I forget that, not everyone will know what a ABS pump looks like, my mistake

I would like to all 1.2 had ABS but everytime I say something like that an anomaly turns up,

Well .............
I was out in Panda earlier and drove to a nearby village to the river with the dog on the back seat, and we went for a walk.
Afterwards, I put the key into the ignition, and turned it without turning it to start.

Not done that before, as normally and habitually I turn and start without a thought, then connect my seatbelt up without looking at the dash. Meanwhile, all the warning lights go out of course, and then I drive away.

Today, I took notice. Ignition on, not turned to start.
See the ABS light?
Wonderful!

Mick.
