Just wondering if this had been done/ if it is possible :(

I understand that the Backbox may need some sort of sleeve to compensate for the diameter difference.

BUT....

Can I even fit the ABARTH Springs to the 1.9, the kerb weight is similar to the ABARTH, is there any chance of them fitting, or is a waste of time?

I have looked for hours for an answer to this question, and failed to find anyone who has actually given a straight answer.

Sorry for a repost if I missed a previous thread.

Steve :D

Okay, if that is the case. idk about any other MJET owners, but the front of my car sits low, and the back about 40mm gap! I assume fitting just the rear ABARTH springs would lower the back, and make the overall look of the car better?

I'm not doing it for performance. I very very rarely drive my car hard! Simply for the looks :)

Also the kerb weight of the abarth is only a few KG's lighter than the MJET, obviously the block is a-lot lighter. where have they got all that weight from? :-\

p.s. I assume the car would ride far to low on the abarth springs on the front. or would it be more likely for a spring to snap than any other lowering related problems?

Mines fine on Eibach Sportines which supposedly offer a 50mm drop.

The Abarth springs on the rear is not a good idea, as the rear would be stiffer than the front and could cause some nasty handling. I wouldn't risk using them on the Mjet, the chances are they weren't designed to take the weight of the heavy engine. I suggest you look into a set of Eibach Pro Kit springs, they will lower the back while making sure the front isn't "too low".

Fair enuf. I cant put really low springs on... my insurance will go even more crazy!!

Figured the abarth ones would not lower it too much, just stiffen the front and make it level all round. I do see where your coming from with mixing and matching. I think ill still give it a go, just see. It could go bad, but then ill just switch them back :)

Just out of curiosity, how much were your springs? Have you got any decent pictures?

Chears,
Steve

if you get the opportunity to, mixing springs can make handling terrible to the point where crashes are inevitable

Springs are springs. The cost to declare the abarths will be the same as eibach sportlines or eibach pros.

Thanks for the info. I dont think ill be fitting springs then, just the backbox :)

Ill have to have a look into the eibach springs when I have a little more to spend.

Out of interest, on the MJET what ground clearance do you get? currently on standard springs I have just under 90mm.
I know they say abour a 40mm drop. Is that what you have actually managed?

Thanks again!
Steve
