Yeah I've always wanted it; I bought a brand new one on ebay thats in KPH, so will have to work out how to change the dials somehow!!! If not it'll be back on ebay in a week or two :p

If I do manage to do it, I may post up a guide . . . we'll see how it goes!
set of lockwoods in mph?

Re: Abarth Dashboard Colour Screen?!?

If it comes to that custard yeah, but the prob is the colour dash has the two extra displays that need cutting out; may just take the OE visteon ones out of my current dash and try putting them in.

46845449 is the part number of the old dash in MPH: although its current retail price is more than £600!

Re: Abarth Dashboard Colour Screen?!?

Mangoletsi are only listing the 2 part codes for the dashboard for pre 2003 and post 2003. That part code is not one of them! How do I find out the correct code for the colour screen dashboard?

Re: Abarth Dashboard Colour Screen?!?

Thanks rrope. I've put that part code in to eper, and it lists various replacement parts. I take it the other codes are for the replacement dash without the colour screen?

Re: Abarth Dashboard Colour Screen?!?

Yes, the way ePER works is to start off with the original part number and then list all replacements by date to the current allocated part numbers. Usually parts are given new numbers if it is required to differentiate old from new; major modifications to specifactions get the C & D mod number.

The colour screen dash started life as 46845449. Then that had a new part number (maybe software update?) to become 46754587 in 10-2002. The colour screen was replaced in mid 03 to come in line with the standard dash; one part number change (to 51718112). Then came a whole Stilo range dash update (different messages for ABS/ESP8); another part number change (to 51740490). Then came the update for seatbelt warnings (SBR) and new messages on the display; I expect customer feedback caused this, for example there aren't any "failures" anymore, systems just become "unavailable"; part number now 51746771. Then there was the direct link for Airbag systems for 04 onwards (I think) . . .

The Stilo instrument cluster has had more changes than I have had warranty claims :p. The ORIGINAL colour screen dash is the number I gave; be warned it may not work if your car has the new Airbag / ESP system would be my only advice; I'm fitting mine onto a car of its age, i may be wrong, just a note of caution. If I could have your chassis number that may help; my only concern is that I know its forwardly compatible (i.e. my 02 made Stilo has got an 05 dash in it - unnecessary warranty job (y)), I just don't know if an 04 can take an 02's dash. Although if your car is before the Airbag mod and Oil transmitter removals you MIGHT be ok . . .

EDIT: And my surname is ROOPE not ROPE, although hardly anyone gets it right! :p

rich it should work as mines o4 plate and got dials out of o3 plate abarth

Re: Abarth Dashboard Colour Screen?!?

Yeah but your 1.4 won't have ESP andy, whereas spike's 54 Abarth will have; thats my only worry; and of course, the airbag mod came into play in mid 04 (so 54 plates and above). When my bro ordered the new dash loom for his Schumi to fit the Sat Nav, he ordered an early Abarth loom (i.e. loom with colour dash) and it was missing these two feeds into the dash, and he had an Airbag fault (loom comparison worked this one out). So if you put an old dash in a new car, the body computer may kick up an Airbag fault on the CAN line (as the dash might not return a signal) and then the dash would display this; it would also knock off the Airbag system.

Re: Abarth Dashboard Colour Screen?!?

My Abarth was a 2005 model, with ESP, Cruise Control, PDC, Easy Go etc. Once the colour cluster was plugged in, my mileage would flash, and opening the left door would report that the right door was open, and vice versa. I had it updated at the dealer, and never had a single problem after that.

It reported all status message perfectly, and it really is a whole lot nicer than the standard cluster. When you turn off your car, it even shuts down with the FIAT logo.

Re: Abarth Dashboard Colour Screen?!?

well i got the milege reset but my mate doesnt know how to remove the parking sensor warning. so gotta figure that out next.

i see your point rich although i thought they removed esp from all models apart from jtd and abarths after 04. i may be wrong

Re: Abarth Dashboard Colour Screen?!?

Well like I said, I may be totally wrong; its just what with the saga of time delay relays for the CN+ installation I've learnt to be cautious with electrical mods to the Stilo.

As for parking sensor failure, that'll be because the dash will be expecting a signal from the Parking Sensor Node; I don't know if this can be shutdown. Going on what Radicool says, when my new dash was installed the FIAT garage said they had exactly the same problem, but after "coding and a proxi-realignment" it all was ok; as Radicool and me are installing new dash units, they may be coded for the first time to the equipment the car has; installing a dash from a buggered Stilo will still mean its asking for equipment it doesnt have (Larzmaster also reported problems with "Loose Connection" faults); I don't know if that is deactivatable or not.

Damn I wish I had an examiner! :p

Re: Abarth Dashboard Colour Screen?!?

Right, plugged mine in to the car tonight, and it works, kinda! The problems I've got are these:
1. FLASHING MILEAGE - Hello Proxi-Realignment :D
2. 'H' MILEAGE - I'm sure there was a post about this ages ago, will check; the milometer currently says (after a short drive) "H 2 mi"
3. INCORRECT DOOR OPENING SIDE (i.e. says Passenger door is open when drivers door is open) - Proxi again! :D
4. "LIGHT SENSOR" Option on menu when my car hasn't got it.
5. "LOOSE CONNECTION" fault

I'm hoping like buggary that a Proxi will cure them all.

What is strange is that my cruise control is now recognised (I retrofitted it and my old dash wouldn't recognise it and there were no options for this); it must be that this dash speaks directly to the Engine Node and the lower level ones only speak to the Body Computer. Strange, but good nonetheless :D (although I expect this will go when it gets Proxi'd).

EDIT: The H thing is apparently turned off by pushing the TRIP button for 5 seconds; doesn't work on mine!

wel talkin to my mate tonight about the reseting of milege wen it flashes. he said you hold in the trip button in for 20 seconds and it will stop didnt work on mine. hes a fiat tech of 6 years by the way

Re: Abarth Dashboard Colour Screen?!?

Hey Andy

The flashing mileage can only be cured by the proxi-realignment as the dash node will be out of timing-sequence at the moment. I'm hoping that'll cure the rest, if not, I have some backup ideas up my sleeve :D

Do you have the "Loose Connection" fault too or just parking sensor fault?

Re: Abarth Dashboard Colour Screen?!?

Right, bit of an update:

Had the dash Proxi-Realigned this morning, it got rid of all faults (including "Loose Connection" errors), but they can't get the mileage to appear!! It's now still sat on 21miles, and cant get the 30000 that I've done.

Next step is to get the mileage off my old dash and update the new one, as the Examiner can add miles on but not take it off; it'll have that done next week. All I've got to do now is change the dials over, not looking forward to that one!

Re: Abarth Dashboard Colour Screen?!?

Well it's in, dials cut, all working (of sorts, rev counter is 100 revs too high, but I don't want to take the needle off again after we had to mess around with the servo motors; nearly lost the rev counter last night!). I kept the abarth needles as they look better in my opinion. Picture is below :D

that looks way too big for the display space i have.
and that orange display is all thats stopping me from changing the lights to blue and dials to white.

The orange display MAY be able to be colour changed, although I severely doubt it. After the spectacular mess we had yesterday I'm never messing with an instrument cluster. If you do though, PLEASE take care when taking the needles off - if the centre pin comes out, prey for forgiveness!!

Well I didn't take my own advice and took it all to bits again. Luckily after knowing how to manipulate that little b@$tard I've got it all to line up so I'm well chuffed :D. The rev counter has jagged movement from 3000 onwards but I'm not really that bothered.

All I've got to do is up the mileage from 80 to 30000 and I'm done :D
