Well with the weather finally brightening up today I was able to fit a few bits and pieces to the car that I had bought last month. I’m not a fan of modified cars, so in my opinion subtle is the way to go.

First up, genuine Fiat Aluminium Sports Pedals

I’m really pleased with these, they brighten up the interior a good bit.

Next up was to fit a smaller aerial. The new one is from a Citroen C5 and fits near enough perfectly.

Next it was onto the wipers, Bosch AeroTwins replacing the standard items

Next job was to de-tango the front lights, Philips Silver Vision’s used to replace the orange bulbs. I think this freshens up the front nicely and looks much better

50/50 (not great due to the reflections)

Last job of the day was to fit a K&N High-Flow Air Filter

Before anyone says anything I know that this won’t improve the performance of the car but it does improve the induction noise a bit plus it saves me having to pay for a new one every service.

I intended this job to take about 10 minutes but it turned out to be a bit tougher than I thought. In the end I had to remove the whole air box to gain full access to replace the filter but luckily if all went back together again lol

Over all I’m really happy with the subtle additions to the car.

Next up is to paint the callipers red and to try and find new covers for the cup holders, I feel some custom parts coming on!

pedals should have been standard IMO(y)

you can get to the filter by removing the 3 air box bolts then tilting the front up to get to the 3 awkward screws underneath(y)

mods look good though, I did like the orange look but now I'm seeing the light (no pun intended) so might give them a go(y)

I like Tango lights on the mk3:(:p:eek:

Aero wipers are just generally better, but I've always had **** wippers, so if you normally have good one's, they won't be any better. They just look good I think(y)

I'm not sure if it's a regional shop to me, or national, but the cheapest place for them in a Wilco Motor shop.

Looking online there are a few about http://www.wilcodirect.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=223

That what i did with the air box, it was just awkward as some of the hoses couldn't be taken off.

De-tango'd is the way to go, you know it makes sense lol

How easy are the pedals to do? Is it a quick job?

I've toyed with the idea but haven't had the time recently so if it's not difficult I might be able to spare the time. Also, did they come with the alloy foot rest like shown in the parts section on the website?

Looking good on the whole, given me a few ideas for my own subtle mods, didn't think the clear indicators would look good but actually they look great!

The pedals are a bit of a PITA to do, not really a quick job. The hardest part is the drilling its to do with the pedal being a flat surface, plus they move. The drill bit tends to slip which means you need to re-mark it a few times. Over all it look about 30 minutes.

You don't get the foot rest, i'm pretty sure these are only for LHD models. We only get the cut out in the centre console to rest our foot.

OK, cool, cheers for the advice (y)

I might give it a miss for the time being, wait until I've got some more time on my hands. Shame about the foot rest, thought that looked pretty neat (n)

OK, this is probably a really dumb question.

Do the replacement tango free bulbs still flash orange?

Yip, they are basically the same bulbs but the fronts have a silver coating on them. The orange is reflected back off the coating which in return reflects off the back of the light cluster (y)

Nicely done. (y)

I'm not sure painting your calipers is a great idea. They tend to look great for a while but unless you are anal about cleaning them the potential for them to look crap a few months down the line is high.

I'm pretty particular when cleaning the car so they will get washed every week. Painted them on my last car and they looks great months later (y)
