Technical 500 Lounge ECC complete failure

Technical 500 Lounge ECC complete failure

I've downloaded the licensed version MES 4.6R1 but I have a problem with resetting the latency timer for my ELM327(v1.5) interface. It is set up and recognised by the software (test all comes back OK) but it comes back with an error 'Latency too high!!!' and it won't connect to the vehicle (2015 Fiat 500 1.2 8v) .

I have gone into the device manager advanced settings as described in the user guide but I have nowhere that I can change the latency timer. I have tried in on a Windows Xp and 2 different Windows 7 machines but they are all the same.
After going into the Port settings and clicking on the advanced button it goes immediately to the screen to set the buffers. In the instructions and everywhere I have looked on the internet there should be a screen before this.

Can anyone tell me how to access the latency timer please?:bang: I think this is all I might need to do to be able to connect to the car and proceed.

Long time since I did mine.. but recall it was annoying.. as I said 2 posts ago.

I might link to all the conversations I had back then..

Stick with it.. its a great tool to have (y)

The F9 scan for interfaces comes back with: "ELM327 1.3/1.4/1.4b/2.1 interface found at port COM9 speed 38400bps. The interface is compatible with ELM327 1.4! Should connect properly with all CAN modules. Latency Too High!!!"
This is why I started looking to lower the latency but don't seem to be able to .

Have you tried changing the Speed in mes settings page not via device manager

Yes I've messed with the baud rates but it only passes the test on 38400. Everything else just times out.

When I press F11 to scan the Obd interface is flashing green lights but it comes up blank. When I press F10 to connect I get an error "ECU connection failed! CAN bus error. Check. If interface is connected correctly to the vehicle and correct vehicle/module selected"

I beginning to think my ELM327 may not be modified for Fiat....?

As I said above ...
My Elm327 says 'latency too high..'

But connects perfectly.. has done on the 10+ FIATs Ive worked on..
Inluding several 500's

My baudrate is 38400 ;)

Im left thinking the ELM might not be your issue ..?

But people do say some ebay kit is flawed.. mine all works 1st attempt..
But was bought 5 years ago.

Are you local to anybody on the Register..?

That would rule out where the doubts are

My last 500 MES test ruled their MES kit ok..
It was operator error..

Have you used other devices on your 500 ??

Ruling out an OBD issue..

Hi Charlie,
I've not tried other devices on this 500. I'm in the middle of the Peak District so not sure who is in my neck of the woods to be honest.
Because it's throwing out the CAN bus message I'm thinking maybe I have one of the interfaces that isn't going to work. It was through an Amazon seller so I can return it FOC. There is another seller which claims his ELM327 interface is specifically Fiat complaint and has been modified so I'm going to try that I think and see if it can talk to the car.

Some of the modules in MES ask to attach the Yellow connector.....is there a second set of cables or adapter that I'm going to need?

So .....the first ELM327 interface I had didn't work. Thanks Amazon. Got a different one off Ebay and I'm connected. All MES modules seem to be working . Interesting to see I had a few error codes for things that I had no idea about . Nothing related to to ACC so they have been sorted out and cleared leaving me with just the one error.
The body control unit and the ACC unit aren't seeing each other. I tried simply clearing the error but that didn't do anything. When I added the yellow adapter to the interface MES couldn't find the ACC at all. It's telling me the ACC is removed (it isn't).

It looks like I need to dig further and start looking at that Body control unit which is hidden away behind the parcel shelf. Out comes the dashboard again!

What is HVAC/NCL? Anyone know? This comes up in brackets on the U1710 error code.

HVAC will be the climate control system just a American term for it

Have you checked there power going to the climate control module for a starting point

Thanks.

Beyond checking that the fuses are all intact , no. Any suggestions on how to do that because I don't think finding the power source to the unit is going to be easy.
